AFC map uploading question (tuning newbie)

I have downloaded the Access file format of the original supermap.
However, I couldn't seems to be able to find a way to open the map in the R4 software.

May I know how do I do that?

also, when I can see the map in the software, how do I upload it?

I read the instruction that came with the AFC but I am not sure if I got the idea.

and simple click by click instruction would be appreciated.
thank you all in advance.

Under the "Fuel Map" theres an icon on the upper left that says "Write to ECU". CLick on that and it will take a couple minutes to load.

To correctly upload a map to the afc you need to open the file you wish to upload. For example if you downloaded a map named 440lcruz, you'll need to first open the r4 sofware go to the file dropdown, select open and then find/select the 440lcruz file. ONce you have done this click connect to ecu and goto the drop down menu at the top and select map a. Now at the top left corner of the "excel" sheet will be 2 buttons, one to download the current map and one to upload the new map to the ecu...you want to write map to ecu...this will take a few minutes depending on the speed of your connection. ONce this is done then click the disconnect from ecu button and close the software...

Hi DSM
I tried to open the stocksupermap on the R4 software but it keeps showing an error message "Run-time Error "13": Type Mismatch"

then once I click "OK", the software will shutdown.

What does that mean?

EDIT*** ok, seems like after I download the map one more time from the website, it works. I clicked close customer before I exit the program, then I am now not able to open the maps again. Same error message pops out.

Hmm I've actually never come across that error before...it sounds like a program confliction error though...let me see if I can replicate or find out what exactly that code is....

Ok update....Here are the 2 things I've come up with thus far after talking with the software techs at Split second...Here's what they suggested you do to eliminate any obvious problems or glitches...remove and completely reinstall the r4 software...make sure that it gets installed in the program files directory. Now after you get that done re download the map and save it in the r4 folder. Apparently sometimes the r4 software gets picky about its location and pathways to files. In the mean time I'm gonna try and mess my software up on the spare laptop to see if i can duplicate the error to figure out what might be causing it. Hopefully that fixes it.

Will try that later!
thanks for now.

also, how should I properly save the modified map in the software?
do I click close client?

UPDATE: just reinstalled the whole software. Saved the program right inside C:/program files directory. Saving the maps right inside the R4 controller directory.

And no dice. After opening the map at second time, the same error message popups.

ok def a software/computer conflict issue....hmm ok we're going to try 2 things...I"m going to send you the map via email and see if that makes a difference...if not then we're either going to try this via another computer, aka laptop, or send it back to me and I'll upload ya a new map and run a few tests to make sure the afc is ok.

On another hand, I just installed an AEM wideband.

While running at around 3500-4000 rpm with 3/4 throttle, the wideband shows a A/F ratio of 10.0 and I do experience some heistations all the way to redline.

Surely the map is a set a little too rich right from that rpm mark, am I correct?

John, I am still awaiting for the software file in my email.

I tried the files and software on 3 different computers and same error message pops out.

please advise

Bump for the help from John.

John, I am still waiting for the R4 software file from you in my email.

And I havent heard from you for the passed week.

I just hope that you can kindly work with me here.

I am afraid that if I can't get this problem solved, I will be forced to jump onto the Unichip boat. (help)

hmm...send me your email address again. I'm almost positive I sent it to the correct address.

Wow I sincerely apologize, it seems I goofed and did not see/use the underscore between your initials and the 400(I just used a space). I will have you a new map in the email this evening.

map got sent to that email address last evening at 5:04pm...let me know if everything came through ok...
