AEM Short Ram Intake Installed

I have a 2003 Mazda Protege LX and just recently installed an AEM Short Ram Intake. I just wanted to encourage owners that don't have an intake installed to get one ASAP. I noticed a dramatic increase in HP and Torque with this easy 1-hour mod.

Plus, I couldn't believe how much crap I took out of the engine compartment which involved the stock intake system.

how much of it is actual performance vs sound psychological performance but ya im be putting my intake soon as it arrives this week im pumped first mod on my new ride

I hear ya on the crap quotient, but heed Jackyls words about how our brains can trick us into thinking small gains are huge gains. But every little bit helps.

I am surprise that you really felt that "torque". In my P5 it actually lost the lowend pep of the car w/ just the AEM SRI. I used to be able to hear a tiny screach on 2nd gear.
Most intakes will probably tops 1-3whp. Since I added my SRmotorsports catback, it actually brought the lowend back but the midrange really live up. If you dont have a catback yet make sure you invest on one to compliment the intake. Now I just need a header to really make breath better.

Please get the header....It is definitely worth the time and money. As soon as you roll off the drive way with it on, you will know where your money went!

Yes, if it fits. I've heard of some people having fitment issues, but normally, it's pretty simple.

The most complex it was for me was on another car. I had to take off the A/C compressor and belt, and the radiator. Luckily I was doing that anyways.

I don't know where the A/c compressor is on the protege, but I'm going to guess the hardest thing you'll have to do is remove the radiator and replace the coolant. Not too hard, but plan on a few hours especially if this is your first one.
