aem/injen intakes (again)

You guys realize that this is a metal pipe with a filter attached to the end of it, right? Why in the name of god anyone would spend more than $100 for a shiny pipe that adds maybe 2 hp at the crank is just beyond me. The ebay intakes are a direct replica of the Injen ones. They are the same! The one I got has plastic connectors instead of silicon, but just make sure the kit has silicon connectors, buy a k&n or apexi filter, and it is just as good if not better as the injen one.

And to the guy who said "engineering is everything" you are a tool. It's a bent pipe! What the hell kind of engineering is gonna go into a mandrel bent pipe!

just put a cone filter on the end of the rubber stock tube.....since its just a pipe with a filter anyways.

Why are some of you guys having "rubbing" with the AEM intake. I've had mine for years and never had an issue with it, fits perfectly...maybe I am just lucky who knows? but you shouldn't have any issues.

You have the 5 speed version or auto?? Mine was the auto version that's having problems.

the 5 spd version...but i've installed the auto on another P5 and it fit fine. The only thing diff. is that it was couple of years ago so maybe newer ones have a prob. (like a bad batch)

That's what i'm thinking too,a bad batch.Hopfully AEM will sent me an replacement that fits like a glove.

Installing Injen.

I am getting ready to order my INJEN intake (thanks to all that agree on INJEN). I can get the polished for cheaper than the black powerded, so I am going with polished. I think it will look better, anywho.

My question: should I pay the $40 to get it installed, or is it fairly easy to install myself? The questiion is whether or not you have to remove the bumper. Lemme know. Thanks!

Once I get that solved, Greddy Revolution or Magnaflo exhaust?

And, whoever said they only add 2HP is funny. You make me laugh.

get a k&n typhoon intake. you get extra brackets for relocating the coolant bottle thing and some other parts, and you can convert from cai/sri easily. so you get both a cai and sri intake and extra brackets for relocating for about the same price of an injen. vividracing.com has it for about $230 with shipping. also, k&n has great customer service.

werd on the minimal hp....

but it sounds way more gangsta when its suckin' air, and it makes you feel cooler! (hump)

OK... I installed my Injen CAI with the help of another P% owner, It took a bit more than an hour, so don't buy the 1/2 hour or 45 minute thing. A few touch angles, etc, but can be done in the garage or a driveway easily. We removed the front wheel to access underneathe for the filter area.

Personally, if you can get someone to do it for $40, and your time is worth more than that, I'd pay it! I foyu like playing with the car, then do it yourself, you can't really screw it up... just make sure your clamps are nice and tight, and center the pipe thru the hole so you don't get any rubbing. I added a second bracket for the overflow tank, kinda thought the solo one provided needed a bit more support.

you dont have to take the wheel off. just unscrew the 4 screws by the area to pull down the plastic piece and put the filter in there. also there is a screw that pops out in the wheelwell. just pop it out with a flathead.
