AEM and the Alternator Field Signals

Ok, Steve,do you have a part number, or a year of a 626 that i should take or find an alternator from?

Jeph, I just realized something, your car probably has other things disconnected (like o2 sensors)...so your stock computer doesn't want to turn on the alternator. What else is disconnected from the stocker?

I know the O2 sensors aren't hooked up because i don't have them on the car at all. The IAT is still connected, and the temp sensor, and things are still connected. I don't know exactly what isn't connected anymore.
I may be having fuel pump issues, because my tune hasn't changed, and i'm getting some funky drivability

A guy at this shop told me someshit about changing the alternator or something to do with the alternator when adding EMS, standalone I believe.

Maybe I should ask him what he was talking about, because I didnt believe him at the time.

Hey Jeph, I am redoing my AEM wiring, the way we have it setup is far from optimal...For example, the reference voltages and grounds to the sensors are mixed up between the two computers, not the best way...

Wolf EMS Installed Issues with Voltage

Im having same issues on voltage.

What is the part number on the 626 Alternator?

So did you ever find the problems? Perhaps you may have a new revised pinout for me to use on my AEM? hehehe

Check my thread about setting up the AEM, I fixed the problems. I don't have any issues with the battery or alternator.

Sweet man. I saw that write up earlier but was not sure if it was up to date or not. Thanks a lot though. This will definately help me out!

I have the Universal one. Version V400
it has most of the same functionality as the V500
It costs $1500

V500 Costs $1800

You have to contact Steve from Wolf for more details on it.
I think im the Second Protege Car with this EMS installed around the world.
It works perfect.

So whats the dilly with these guys?
Site did not have too much info re: Mazda applications just RX7 and MX5.
Are u talkin about the V500? Seems expensive.
Couldn't find much here (MF) about anyone using it.
Maybe I'll try the 323 site.

Found your thread but it doesnt specify anything....

I think it sshould be easier to find whats the voltage that the alternator need to activate the regulator.

The stock computer is turning on my alternator. If you want your standalone to do it, it requires a pulse width voltage that can be found in the "Ugly" online manual. I know I could do it with the AEM's frequency generator, but I no longer have time to mess around..

Yeah, thats what Im doing. But I also understood the thing about the 5v output wire. I also dont have enough time, I have a 626 alternator to install.
