Add Subwoofer

Hi , i have mazda 6 with non bose and i have original subwoofer and i need 2 connected this sub with my Audio factory any way ,,how ???

have 4 wires and i need info for this wire

To connect it to a factory non-bose system you will need a line-out converter such as the ones sold at www.davidnavone.com. You connect the input wires on the LOC to your stock speaker outputs and connect the outputs to the wiring harness on the back of the subwoofer.

Blue/Red - 12 volt - Connect to fuse in fuse box for +12v power
Black - ground - Connect to metal chassis of car
Brown/Silver - audio signal (I think this is +)
Black/Silver - audio signal (I think this is -)

12v accessory, it has to be switched power, otherwise it will drain your battery.

You could take it from the factory radio...but that requires you pulling out the factory radio. Why do that when you can access the same circuit from the fuse box?

12V Accessory for turn on, but use 12V Constant directly to the battery via a low gauge (large diameter) wire WITH A FUSE as close to the battery as you can make it, no more then 12" away.

ALSO,

use the FRONT speakers as leads for the subwoofer, not the REAR. The front is much more evenly EQ'd compared to the rear, from the O.E. factory head unit. IF you use the rear, you will get substandard bass output from your subwoofer, and you'll likely not get what you paid for. A better signal comes from the front speaker outputs.

Please remember to take SWITCHED 12v to the fuse box, not the actual POWER 12v. The fuse box can't take the hit.

My personal suggestion is to not touch the fuse box at all. Find a wire behind the head unit that turns on when the ignition is on, and off when it is off. There should be one there. Tap into it with vampire clamps or something like that (maybe a good solder 3-way), and leave the fuse box alone.

hey fourthmeal I have the line in converted hooked up to my rear speakers and they dont hit at all, Im going to switch it to the front and see what happens but do you know the colors for pos and neg in the front or is it the same at what chuyler1 was sayin.

<shrugs>, not sure on a speed6, but here's your wiring diagram...

I think Blue is L, and Black is B, and DR is Dotted Red. I think. Honestly I rarely use diagrams, I just follow the wires when I'm deep into a car, and figure it out that way. Or I put a test light on it.
