ok so I "installed" my optima battery today but the bracket used to hold down the old battery won't do....so I ended up using zip ties as a temporary solution. Anyone who has installed an optima battery have a good way to secure it and also not make it look like a mess? =/

can you show up a picture or something? itd be hard to tell you what ideas i have without knowing where it sits

well...it's more complicated then that....I also snapped the bolt off so it's not gonna stay put anyway =(

woot my gf just found the mounting brackets for ford vehicles (I leave lots of stuff at her house my accident) Mazda IS part owned by ford....anyone with an optima battery use em or have a hint on how to make it look clean?

what sits too high? the battery or the bracket? in either case try and use washers to even out the height or go to your local auto parts place (or even hardware store) and grab those hook shaped brackets like they use for stock (in your case just longer ones).

well, that would work except that while installing the stock bracket I snapped the bolt so it's not gonna stay put. Ive seen a few engine bays with my optima battery and they didn't use the stock bracket. I had an idea with the zipties though. At the base of the battery there are 4 holes for the ford brackets to dig into, I could run a ziptie down in one, under the battery, up hrough the other one and then under the battery holder table...if all else fails, eh, I think that would at least hide the fact that I'm using zipties. ^^

Batteries do not like vibration or moving around too much especially when it is cold out.

I installed an Optima in my 2003 Mazdaspeed, and I used the spacer that came with the battery. It was wrapped up with the Optima when I bought it, and when placed on the bottom of the battery tray it raises the battery up to the exact height. Mounted perfect, and doesn't move or vibrate at all.
