They are as accurate as the sensors in your car. when your ECU says you're going 60, it stops the test. if that's due to wheel spin, then it's inaccurate. If your speedo is off, it's inaccurate. Other than that, I'd say it's pretty accurate. The quarter mile test is most likely nowhere near accurate since it counts wheel spin as part of the distance you've traveled.

Agreed but the fact of the matter is, on this particular car, the DH & AP can rarely give an accurate measure of 0-60 & 1/4 mile performance because wheelspin is part of the game to good times. Either the owner is not pushing the car hard enough (ie. no wheelspin) or he's roasted the tires to get that 3.94 second 0-60 time like one of the posters has in this thread.

on the 0-60 time, wheel spin is not really an issue unless you can roast third gear, which I sure can't. Then again, all I have is an intake and an intercooler...

yeah AP is gay for the 0-60 time...if you spin much at all it stops the test, which makes no sense for a 0-speed test

From this morning. NOT a MS3. Easy launch, slipping the clutch at around 3k:

0-60mph in 4.40sec

I think I will shave a good .2 when its not as humid outside.

Accelerometer readings relate actual movement to time and distance. The clock begins with movement of car and not wheelspin, and is unaffected by wheelspin that would trigger a false 60 mph. Acclerometer also allows you to duplicate staging light roll-out. 12 inches is typical for shallow staging, so I set accordingly.

No portable on-board measuring device is as good as drag strip timers, and should not be considered absolute gospel. Butt good, properly calibrated accelerometers can come very close, and are considerably more reliable and repeatable in their results than devices that measure wheel speed.

AP and DH data logging do a lot of very useful things an accelerometer can't do. But for some purposes, especially things like measuring actual changes in movement measured against time or distance, it's pretty slick.

Here is some accelerometer data to consider. Mods listed below. 5.1 seconds is as good under ideal conditions as I can get with my mods.

However, the 4 second WRX would be in a heap of trouble from 60-100 mph, once his launch advantage disappears and we get full boost in third.
