So there I was, at work all day. Trapped inside of yet another concrete building, while outside was the most gorgeous day we have had in quite a while. So, afterwork, I get in the car, take the long way home to enjoy a brief ride in the sun, and park in the drive way back at home.

Then....I look at the car....then I look at the water hose on the house ( Mind you I had to look around and over 3-4 feet of snow to see it )....then I look back at the car.....and the hose again.......and said SCREW IT.

You see, we have the touchless car washes here. But, I have a window visors, and the front visor on the car as well. And the car washes have a tendency to rip them off the car. So, the only car wash my baby gets is when I gets her done at the dealer.

Anyhow...I stepped over and through the snow bank, got up to my knees in snow, grabbed the hose, which was solid ice.....and thought " this wasn't looking good". So, I turned it on and the water trickled out. I left it on, went inside the house for about 15 mins, and came back out....sure enough....we have WATER!

I must admit, I felt kinda stun, in my big winter boots, gloves, and jacket outside standing in snow banks washing the car freezing to death....but like I said, screw it. Funny thing is, as I sprayed the car off, and watched the dirt wash away, I swear I felt like I was the one having the shower.....ahhhhhhhh.....that's better.

Now my baby is all clean.....until I drive it 5 feet...but hey, she's clean. I just won't drive it until May....yeah right.

Damn I can't wait for the snow to F'off.

Now, if I could just put the dunlops back on....hmmmmmm....

Hey newf I can relate....for me the most exciting day of recent memory was when I found there was a 24 hour car wash here in Winnipeg that takes loonies for the wand style washing....so for usually 3 bux, I go in there late at night when it isn't too busy and spend an hour or so just washing the car down properly and then drying it top to bottom too.

crazy winter antics

ok, so yes...i did also wash my car in the snow..hey, it was fun. i love my mp3, and i stand behind others who do the same...way to go newf!!!

I too have been subject to the cold washing of the car When it was really snowy, which wasnt too much here in toronto this year I would give it until it cleared up and melted and the roads had cleared off a bit and then wash it...but normally im at the car wash about once a week or less....depending on how the car is looking.

Ahhhh i too love the coin power wash bays!!! I have one a few minutes from my house and i work late, so i too stopped by at like 2am or so and washed and then took my time to dry the car....nothing like a shinier car than everyone else during the winter...i cant wait till its nice enough to wash it at home and spend a quality amount of time going over the car without freezing....hey does anyone use the mothers stuff on their car? does it work well?

Haah thats the type of stuff I like to hear...the crazier the better. Well I think im going to wash my car tommorow, I am motivated.
Problem here is that it will be 80 degrees here in miami and sunny hmmm I guess I have to comprimise LOL

I am in Toronto as well, this year has been great for snow, I have stored my baby for the winter and pulled it out last weekend. Washed and waxed....looks like showroom quality.

I use the mothers line of wax....buy the paste type in the flat can not the bottle, you will be happier. Buy some terry cloth and apply with one and hand polish with another. Use a tooth pick to clear the was out of the gaps by the bumper and fenders.

DO NOT wax your wheels....

Why not wax your wheels? or do you mean tires....now that would be funny! THe racing harts ARE painted afterall. I had troubles with pitting on mine late last year, and I put a coat of wax on them....just before being stored for the winter actually. I never usually do that, but i was desperate at the time. Now I'm getting 2 replaced due to some mechanic with an air gun....arrrhhhhggg.....but anyhow.

Yeah KurtMP3, I use the Mothers line as well....specifically I use:
California Gold Car Wash - smells so good...reminds me of bubble gum
And then I also use all three phases of the "Ultimate Wax System" as they call it and it's great. It includes:
Pre-Wax Cleaner
Seal and Glaze
Pure Carnauba Wax(liquid as I find it easier)

To be honest part of the reason I went with Mothers is that I found that when I headed down to Canadian Tire they often didn't have a full selection of Meguiar's products and the Mothers lineup is really easy for me to figure out. I'm just waiting to do till the snow is all melt and it's relatively clean out and I'll be probably spending an entire Sunday cleaning the car top to bottom.

One question for you guys....I was thinking of removing the seats for cleaning purposes...is this a crazy hard thing to do or is it something that's not too difficult?

Some waxes will eat away at the coating on your wheels. Especially the stuff that lasts a year....using pure wax and not the chemicals should be OK.
