Hit a manhole cover doing 45mph...

Thats why you're not supposed to do that! Think you can get the city to cover your deductible? That sucks though, sorry. Not a good time for 2's, mine is in the shop now getting body work and a new rear axle.

That looks like a pretty stout part- also appears to be welded on. Before I got it replaced, I'd consider having my alignment checked to see if it's still within adjustable tolerances- if it is, just have the wheels aligned and drive on.

I bet you caught some air! Glad the landing didnt result in any worse damage.

@eyeballs I made it over a year avoiding every pot hole and traffic dot on the damn road lol hope the damage isn't too bad on yours.

@Stevie the alignment is shot, and there is either damage to the wheel bearing it the axle havnt had a chance to get in there.

@Derrick flying in a car want exactly as fun as I thought it would be. The whole way home I couldn't stop thinking about the skid plate I should've invested in lol

Did you report it to the city or someone of authority? The city do cover things like that if it's proven that it's their fault

gutted.... bad news on the damage bud....

hope you manage to get it fixed & not at your expense....

Shaun.....

Ouch!
I would cry. My 2 is less than two years old with less than 7,000 miles. Still in near perfect condition. I dread the first dent, scratch or whatever...(nailbyt)

I had my first scrape last September, and I had a bit of a breakdown...LOL

So sorry to hear about what happened to your 2 Boogie. I fear the same thing happening to me because the roads where I live SUCK.

Ohhhh man... so sorry. Even if you memorize every single man hole cover, hole in the street or bump there's always that one that you never see coming. :)

I would contact your city. If that man hole cover was sticking up too high, which it shouldn't be, a proper man hole cover should be almost flush with street level. If it was too high they should pay for damages. It's on them.

Someone made a tiny ding on my fender and I was in a murderous rage for about a month. If I ever see that yellow Sunfire again...

I don't know what it is about Chevy drivers (and I refer to anyone who drives a GM car or pickup as a damn Chevy driver), but they have to be the rudest, most inconsiderate drivers on the road, by and large. Pontiacs are the ones cutting you off and almost causing accidents, Chevys and GMCs are the ones screaming by you like a bat out of hell, Buicks are the ones swerving in and out of lane in front of you and nearly causing pileups, Oldsmobiles are aptly named because the old people all drive them at 5, and so far as I can tell, Saturn drivers have just lost the will to live.

Oh, and Hummer drivers are plain [insert male phallic reference here]. I think most Chevy drivers are just embittered because they drive inferior cars, even by American standards.

I do sound prejudiced, and I am to some extent, as there are bad/rude drivers in all brands, but still...it's hard to care about your car when it's a heap of junk.

Anyway, to keep on the original topic, I once again extend my heartfelt sympathies for Jboogie and the car. Hopefully the city will do something about it.

+1million. I think the deal with the Saturn drivers is that they're just in a hurry to get where they're going, because their car will fall apart at any second.

Thanks for all the ideas and condolences lol. Unfortunately I'm on my own to replace it, too many hoops to jump through for the city and my deductible is way too high to go through insurance. Guess I'll be getting real close with the the undercarriage of my 2 real soon!

Here in NJ, as part of out comprehensive insurance, we file a claim and give testimony as to what happened, the insurance company then investigates the situation and attempts to recover losses from the responsible party(ies)

You then receive a refund ( all or partial) of you deductible as the claim responsibility is settled.

My buddy was directed to go around an accident at less than 10mph by a traffic officer and hit unmarked, unsanded black ice and ended up in a ditch. He paid the $500 deductible and ended up getting $350 of it back due to responsibility falling on the city for not sanding, and the officer for not realizing the risk on that road( even after someone else was in the ditch) and closing the road until further action could be taken to make the road safe.

My opinion is to go the insurance route and have it done 100% and let them work for you, as you pay them every year for just this type of protection and representation.
