Umm...

Not here to show off, but i know there are a bunch of you who want an evo after the MSP

All i have to say is "Get one"

I absolutely love this car ... think of it as a WRX w/ SRT-4 w/ MSP all into one

I dont care how people thrash the interior, it is really nice.

And the Stereo is decent for stock, i put a nice sony cd player in and the stockers sound great

and the car feels like its ready for the edge

Did i mention it is hard as hell to get the back to some out or loose control...

Heh... one thing that bothered me the most about the MSP was limited mod-a-bility. The whole car was upgraded everywhere, except the engine where you couldn't do too much.

I have 2300 miles on my Rally Red beast, and enjoy each one.

only "problems"

Sucks Gas in boost (no joke at all)
Brakes are squelling and rotors are warped (warranty item)
Cant launch in this car (dont want to burn clutch) (but if you launch it, its pure bliss)
Clutch is weak (working on it through NHSTA petitions for recall)

But then again

Plus's:
Engine can be upgraded to over 500 hp on pump gas w/ stock internals
Already a 1000hp evo (havne't seen it but heard of it)
Power gains on simple mods are crazy
4wd
Ohh and evo vs sti is a drivers race, ive beat stock STi's vs my stock car
ohh and aftermarket support is so big i dont know what brand to stick to.
And im obcessed w/ my car i have like jackets and replica cars adn rally cars and rc cars and posters and framed print and all this crap.

Heh.

Sorry for the long rant but i thought i would share the experiences..

Ohh and in case no one on here looks on the evo forums

The Evolution MR is coming in 3 months

6speed active center diff (like sti but better)
lighter, titanium turbo, aluminum roof, metallic grey (best color), too many upgrades to list, ohh and the trick suspension that makes my awesome handling car look like s***.

Heh thats more expensive than the regular evo but it shouldn't cost more than 35g's. But its a bargain for the car your getting

New to DSM's I take it ?

I love it when a new DSM guy jumps on board thinking their Mr. Ralliart. Some of us were tuning DSM's decades ago when their was little support, and all you had was trial and error. Glad you like the EVO. It is a truly a great machine. And the MR series will only make it better.

But I don't think you gave the Speed the real chance to shine (whether you wrecked it or gave up on it). Imagine the MSP in just a few years from now with just the modding community at work. I can name a few MSP's here that have handed EVO's, and even the STI's their asses on many occasions. And we're only in what, the second year of R&D for the platform versus what the thirteenth for Diamond Star Motors (Mitsubishi) and ninth for Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru). The mazda's powerplant will never be the 4g63 no getting around that. But in time with effort to development rather than throwing on parts, The speed comunity will make the MSP and thier turboed Protege brotheren also a truly great platform.

nice... lucky bastard, im going to paint my evo that mettallic grey color in a year or 2

I was eyeing a 2003 Evo the other day at the dealer. Seems that they are trying to clear them and offering them well below invoice. Too bad I would be upside down on my MSP or I would trade it in tomorrow, no questions asked. How easy is it right now to push the hp up? What are the costs like to get around 400hp?
