A few questions from a new MP5 owner...

Hello there fellow tuners.
I'm new to the boards, but not new to the tuning sector.
I have owned a 93 teg and 2 DSMs (a 1996 & 1997 Eclipse)
See My Eclipse Here
I'm the new proud owner of a 2002 MP5 Wagon. I'm originally from Kingston, Jamaica (where I was lucky enough to be the son of a weekend rallye racer), lived in South Florida for about 10 years and now I'm an enlisted Airman in the USAF stationed at Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, Alabama. I'm looking to modify but have a few questions. BTW, my car is an auto, I know, I know....tip tronic though.

Appearance:
Rims....I have tried the Ebay route...I get back the stock wheels when I input Mazda Protege Rims or Protege Rims etc. (This seemed easier w/my Eclipse...lol) I found things like CF hoods and intake etc.....but no dice on the rims ????

Engine Mods:
Since the car is still under a 5-year warranty, I don't want to void anything. Simple bolt-ons is what I'm looking into. I.E. Intake/Exhaust/etc.

ICE:
Basically I want to get rid of my stock unit....How the heck do you get that thing out?! Since the speakers are pretty good...I'm thinking about just keeping the stock tweeters and going w/newer spearkers all around. Of course a sub and an amp would be installed...any advice on that?

Suspension:
Ah ha...a big one on my list. Don't plan to go coil overs...been there, done that, got the t-shirt. A nice 1.5" to 2" drop is what I'm looking for. Has anyone gone the Air Suspension route as of yet? If so info please.

Turbo:
I have a Garret T-3 sitting around in my closet gathering dust...it's brand new and I was planning on installing on my n/t 1996 Eclipse. The manifold needs to be changed...apart from that it's ready to go. Where can I find (if any) a manifold to fit that? Or, do I have to get a custom built one?

Nitrous:
How does our car react to Nitrous Oxide and has anyone installed a kit. Info if applicable.

Well, I think that's it! I hope to hear from you guys soon.
Thanks in advance & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
Regards,
Phil

well yea i am kinda new in the p5 scene as well. and we are definatly wanting to go different routes i hav ebeen doing research on the things i wana do so thats y i cant really help u lol.

i know what rims i want to get... dont know nething about dice lol

umm exhaust well im going to be getting a hks hiper more than likely unless i come across somthing really good but ima big hks fan and i like how it looks.

im fine with my stock system for now and if i were to replace nething it would just be speakers and thats all about personal preference newayz id prolly go with infinitys

suspension i want full coilovers nething less is a waste in my opinoin but thats just me :) im a big suspension tuning person so....

turbo and nitrous dont really apeal to me... no need to make it fast i have a 240 to go mess around in if i feel that need. (not that my 240 is super fast but..)

No dice...meant I was having no luck finding what I was looking for..just a figure of speech pal.
Anyway....what sites if any?

ah o well im unfamilar with that rofl. sorry.

protege5online.com - everything
https://twmperformance.com - short shifter/knobs
kartboy.com - shortshifter/knob
ptuning.com - everything

well theres a couple sites to get you started im sure ppl will chime in with alot more

HA, a fellow ex-DSM Tuner and Air Force man!

Hit me up with any questions bro, I have had my P5 for just over a year now and have a pretty good grasp on what is available out there for it.

Already pretty familiar w/ptuning, they offer a discount to dsmtuners.com ppl...cool beans.....I'll have to look into the others...I visited MP5online already also. I'm just really surprised I can't find rims for this thing on ebay. I know after the XMAS rush...more ppl will probably start chiming in.

Hey Wes....are you still in? And are you stationed at Lackland/Kelly or Randolph (I see San Antonio...so that's why I'm being nosy).

I'm starting off slow, but want to go w/the easy bolt-ons first....new wheels preferably 18s springs and then E/I etc.

What's the offset of the wheels btw?
Thanks!

what i cant get in on this i mean i didnt go the dsm route and i didnt get a sucky base.... what can i say eglin ownz you all

Welcome to the forum. Towards the top of the page there is a search button. That little tool can answer most of your questions, but I'm bored so:

Wheel offset 5x114.3 Do a search for Rishies fitment recipe. You can't just go throwing on any 18's, the recipe will give you the recommend offsets.

There are plenty of people in the for sale section selling new, and used parts, if you're interested. There is also an Authorized Vendor section, if your worried about getting burned by individuals(which I'd like to say doesn't happen here, just that since your new, you might be leary until you get to know some of us). Again, welcome and use the search tool:).

Sup, Phil! (hi) Welcome to the club! Let's see if i can break this down one-by-one...

1. Rims are around. Look for at least a +45 offset for a 17, and +48 for an 18. Bolt Pattern is 5x114.3, like Mad Hatter said. Rotas are a good, relatively cheap option.

2. Most people here have Injen intakes. AEM makes a short ram, but the Injen CAI seems more popular. I love mine. For exhaust, Racing Beat(among others) is a good choice. Just lurk the For Sale section. ;)

3. I may be wrong, but I think I remember that the HU is made by Nakamichi. Whatever the case, there's removal tool you can buy to get it outta there. Look for Ford removal tools. I put an amp under the seat to run the highs and there's plenty of room in the hatch for a sub. If you wanna buy a custom sub enclosure, I'm selling one that goes into the jack area. It's for a 10"

4. There's a few Bagged P5's. Most people will just throw some springs and struts on there. The stock P5 corners so damn well that it's kind of a shame to mess it up wth bags, imo. (shrug) If you want to go really low, there's plenty of coilovers available.

5. Not sure, sorry. I'd imagine that Mental Addiction Motorsports would have a mani for you.

6. Dont blow 'er up! :D Lol, just be careful and don't start spraying 100 shots and it oughtta be all good. I know a guy who's P5 had nitrous for over a year with no problems. Take it easy and you'll be safe...I think. ;)

Good luck!
