A couple of questions about 2009 MS3

Hey whats everyone on here. New to the Mazda scene. I recently got a 2009 MS3, and have been loving it. But it seems the 07 and 08 MS3 have had issues with motor mounts and transmission problems to name a couple from what I ahve read on this forum. I was wondering if these issues got fixed on the 09's or if they carried over. Also I wanted to know what items people recommend to make the car more reliable. And lastly wanted to know of some good mods to better the car all around, such as performance, handling. Thanks again to everyone who takes time to help out a noob in the mazda world.

I haven't read of anyone having motor mount issues in the '09 models. I think the ones you've read are from as isolated incidents. Keep in mind there are many owners who aren't on this forum that probably haven't experienced failure to their mounts. And the ones that report issues, more than likely, are running big HP mods (i.e. bigger turbo).

The consensus on here would agree that getting the Corksport Motor Mount Inserts and TWM Shifter Bushigns are relatively cheap mods that garner noticeable and positive difference. I recently got both and it makes the car drive better, but not as much as I had anticipated form what I've read on here. I don't regret getting them, but I guess my expectations were too high.

i am sure you havent heard of the issue yet with the 09's that much because they havent been out long enough. give it another 6 months or so, and you will see it a bit more. if you want this car to be reliable, then get some motor mounts. it doesnt really matter too much which ones you choose because any of them are better than the stock ones. as far as other mods are concerned, just do your homework first and choose what risks are worth taking to you, and what risks arent.

It really boils down to how you drive the car. If you have a tendency to do hard launches, then yes, the mounts will eventually fail. If you tend to be more of a smoother starter and only hammer the pedal once already moving at a good clip it likely won't ever be an issue. Really depends on the driver.

I been driving my 09 since November 1st with about 2.5k miles now stock. No issues so far. I think it is true, that it depends on how you drive your car.

2008.5 and up had motor mount problem fixed. Other than creaky suspension in cold weather and the cowl rattle issue, I have had no problems with the powertrain.

The transmission needed a good 3000 miles or so to loosen up, it was a little harsh before that. I wouldn't powershift or slam the car into any gears without some serious time invested behind the wheel.

I've got bought my 09 in August and now have 3500 miles on it. I have the CS MM inserts and no problems so far...Knock on wood.(bang)

i have 08.5 with 9k and no motor mount issues.

If you do lots of hard launches i would def suggest a solid motor mount upgrade.

It will help with wheel hop..

54K on my 07 and no MM issues. It might have helped that I changed to the Dogbone with about 5K on the car.
I do feel that this helped with the stress put on the sometimes failing tranny mount.

Bone stock at 6K Miles, so far 0 problems, save for a bit of clutch chatter (been there since I got the car) and a ocassional rattle from the dash. During the first 1000 miles, the LSD would make some noise after some spirited driving, but it hasn't done it since.

I've done maybe 2 hard launches on the car in its lifetime so far, other than that the car's been driven as smoothly as possible.

not per say..but most dealerships are willing to void warranties for any mods.
