3.5 Yellow MSP #1083
Hi all,

I have a couple more questions for you all. I am still looking at a couple of MP3's.

What is your take on Salvage titles? That always scares me off, but I know that doesn't necessarily mean that car is in bad shape.

Also, I'm looking at a yellow one with 60k miles, give or take a few. What do you all think it is worth, or what would be a good purchase price for it?

Thanks all.

there is a certain caution you should use when buying a salvage title vehicle. for starters, you dont exactly know the quality of the work that was done (unless you know the shop that fixed it). you run a risk of there being some kind of hidden problem. you need to be certain you understand what you are buying and what risks you are taking. i would call some area body shops and ask if they could look over it for you. i am sure you can find some that will search for hidden damage, the type of damage that an unfamiliar person may not know to look for.
also, you will not get much for it (assuming you can find someone who wants to buy a car with a salvage title), if you decide you want to sell it. i bought a truck with a salvage title a few years ago. i had no problems out of it. my only complaint was the lack of quality work. there were things that were broken (airbox), left unfastened, paint didnt match well, etc. that kind of stuff may not bother you but i dont like it. just be careful and know what you are buying. good luck!

Yeah, in general I'd recommend staying away from salvage titles. Depending on the law of the state the salvage title might not mean much i.e. that there was actually very little damage, but still . . . unless you know the exact history it's a risk. And forget about resale.
