A/C not working

My dad has a 98 Protege 1.5 and his a/c stopped working. He had a new compressor put on and charged up so I know all the components are good but it still wont fire up. We were told it was caused by the PCM which was bad and not telling it to turn on, so I just had that replaced at Mazda and still nothing. If anyone can help me out it would be appreciated

is this a cheap thing to get done? or possible to do by yourself.. i know u gotta do a flush and maybe check the thermostat

i had not hot heat during the winter as well..

have a shop fill it.... since your car is older you have the R-12 refridgerant system....

You need to either find someone liscensed to buy you the stuff or get a shop to do it. My neighbor is an HVAC tech (20+ yrs) and does mine for free... I just slip him a 20 or something like that for helping me out.

I was told that my AC compressor was leaking, and it needs replacing, otherwise I would have to have it filled yearly... since my neighbor does it for free, I have yet to replace it, and it still blows icy cold for me...

Oh and not always does lack of cold air mean not enough... Sometimes it can be overfilled, and actually cause the system to bog down and not cool as efficently.

Either way have either some shop do it, or some trained professional with a good set of gauges.

If you had no heat, then your heater core is probably dead... those are a MAJOR pita to replace.... you basically have to pull the entire dash out to get to the core... not a fun project.

try that first and the thermostat itself.... try all options before you attempt the heater core.
