95blkprobe's 02 p5 build

sorry for the late update guys, ive been really busy over the holidays and with school starting back. I spent alot of money traveling during the whole month of december so I dont have any great updates, though I do have a few.

My crank was way out of spec, the spun rod bearing put it .040" out. I just picked up a new crank today and I'm planning on finally dropping it all off to the machine shop this week. I did get a few goodies though. I received all of my KMR braces, turbo xs dual stage electronic boost controller, my AN lines and fittings, turbosmart wastegate and some other little stuff.

My goal is to be ready by the end of FEB for an IFO race. It's gonna be close but I hope I can finish it in time.

It is a hy35 as well. They don't like staying down at 10-15 psi, but they love 20+. Should be a little less slow

should finally be gettng the motor back from the machine shop on saturday, then i will begin assembly. still awaiting a few part for LSD install from mazda as well as my clutch set. hoping to get it running next weekend if everything goes well. after 500 mile break in, time for megasquirt and boost

wow 19 and doing all this, im 20 and for some reason cant ever find the right parts to turbo my protege. i need money like you!! lol awesome build, deff subbin

this is long overdue: I will have pics up later, but here is a quick run down.
Im planning on having the engine done tonight, all that is left is the stupid crank seal that ****** up on me last night, install timing belt and cover, then pull a broken bolt out of the back side of the block that holds the rear main seal in, then install flywheel and clutch.

I may even get to start on installing the lsd tonight and finishing it up tomorrow before work. I have been working on this thing by myself at the most strange hours, I work everyday except tues and thurs till at least 11 at night, so Ive been wrenching on it from about 1130 till at least 5 am. then sleeping for a couple hours then wrenching on it again in the am before work.

also updated parts list

Hang in there Charles. Everyone deals with some kind of BS with this car. As with any motor, its going to have its moments that will soon be forgotten with the push of the right foot. Keep in mind that doing it right, will keep you from doing it AGAIN!

Glad you got the gaps all figured out. The LSD is cake, so you are in the home stretch. The next bastard might become the tune. Depending on how you set it up, there may be some tricky s*** to deal with there too. Text me if u need anything.

Man! great job! im glad to hear that things are coming along very nicely. I wish i could get my tranny finished already as of right now im having problems with mine. XD I might have to hit you up with questions about the tranny. That reminds me...i really should update my build thread...XD

its all good bro, I just got home from working on the engine all night, the motor is done except for the flywheel and clutch needing to be installed. also my turbo is too big so I need to modify the front coolant line. I took studs out of a honda motor and used in the protege head. they were the same thread pitch and were also free since all my buddies are honda guys.

heres why there needs to be modification

coolant neck off one of my spare probe motors

look how close the compressor housing is to the bell housing of the motor
