80mm Exhaust for the MSP

id be in for this at that price. much better than going custom, or paying like $1100 cdn for a vibrant lol.
from the cs exaust i heard on a p5, id be quite happy with it. fits nice, sounds nice, looks nice. would be nice if it could bolt up to the stock turbo stuff though for those of us who are still noob.

my apexiR1 is getting annoying, dam pipe scrapes all over place on PA's bad as roads.

will there be a catless option if you do a j-pipe back?

Here is MAM-3" down pipe from THUMPER KIT(silver coated)

Now you telling me that it will be that hard to do something like that for a T3 turbo set-up ????????

BTW- what is your target: T2 set-up or T3 set up ?

Or make the option for either one and have the mentioned size for T2 set-up/ppl and make 80mm full TBE for T3 set-up/ppl which/who will be buying STEEDSPEED T3 manifold as its being build as well.

What do yo think of that now ?

IMO - 80mm exhaust should be unique on its own and don't try to mix-match it with anything else but build it like its suppose to be, I mean its 80mm exhaust this is meant to be TBE not cat-back, we don't have v8's here that we just interested in 80mm cat-back versions.
Isn't the point of 80mm exhaust for T3 and bigger turbo application where you can tell and benefit from it , how much would a T2 benefit from 80mm version when they can get maxed out on 75mm.
This is the exact reason it should be left up to the end user to determine for the downpipe. If you are running anything other than a stock-oriented setup it's going to be next to impossible for CS to have their system work for you. Even if it does fit your setup it'll likely not fit someone else's. There used to be a bunch of T3 setups out there and they all were different. From a business standpoint it would make no sense to make one. If they were to do a full TBE, they would see the best response from one that worked with a stock setup as that is what the majority of people have. Obviously, the easy solution here is to just do an exhaust the connects at the stock j-pipe location and let the end user decide what to do for the downpipe.

$449 80mm j pipe back is a steal. if it had an oval style muffler with a deep/subtle tone with a 3-3.5 tip that sat flush with the bumper it would be on my shopping list. Something that looks and sounds less ricey.

Agreed! The way I took the comment from CS about the flow either 80mm back or 80mm flared was due to pricing differential. I completely understand 80mm straight would be a much better flow than flaring. Whether this system is made as TBE or J-pipe back I would be very interested. Personally I agree w/ magnum and that the final development should be j-pipe back. CS will not only have much better sales, but it will benefit us as a whole as a majority end up upgrading the turbo, or those who go turbo use a different setup.

Here is a picture of a stock bottom of the S-pipe and the CorkSport current version

stock-CS-Spipe-outlet.jpg

The stock outlet is 45mm ID and the CS is 60mm ID. The space between the bolts is right at 67mm which means we have to do some sort of reduction for the 80mm pipe to work. What we can do is ..

80mmreduction.jpg

There would be a small section which could be cut off for a custom app. The outside of the stock S pipe flange at the J pipe connection is 81mm. This is the stumbling point on the getting 80mm piping to the flange for the S pipe connection. We could leave it with no flange but I dont think that would work well for the majority of people.

Slighlty off topic but, does anyone have a Corksport S-pipe they'd be interested in selling ? Already have the J. Sorry for the threadjack. PM me if so.

y not do a dual pipe off the turbo flange, and the go into one 3 inch pipe then run 3 inch to the flange for the s and j pipe

If this really happens. Im down indefinitely. I got their catback and i love it. Its jsut alittle loud. Maybe a catless and highflow option would be good.

Business is business, obviously we are talking about an opportunity to make something more then just J-back , you know a lot of ppl have Vibrant which is perfect J-back 3" except for the down pipe and j-pipe.
The reason I'm asking for Full TBE is bc there's some ppl that can go with this which means this could be a GB run and the rest of ppl can get the J-back version.

I could make vibrant a J-back and add 3" down pipe to it and won't bother with CS 80mm but being that CS does an excellent job building these things it does work better for anyone else thats looking for TBE instead of working the rest of the system on their own, it becomes more $$$$ and lots of headache too.

If CS can't offer an option as TBE then not worth it IMO.

how much restriction would we be talking to make the reducer portion modular? just make it a 6-7" peice flanged on both sides, and if you dont need the reduction, include a straight through peice in the kit too.
might add a little bit to the cost of the kit, but $500 is still wicked considering the cost of the competition.

I do hope you offer 3" J and S pipes to compliment your new exaust though. id be in for all of it if its offered, but maybe the above could be a viable alternative for those who just get custom pipes made ect.

We are going to get a pre-production setup done and I will post up some pictures when we have it finished.

Unfortunately I'm out. Selling the P5 and hoping to pick up an RX-7 in the near future.

I might be getting a Turbo Back 3" Exhaust for a GREAT price, so you might have to count me out of this.

Rx7 = Bigger Money Pit, lol
No doubt, but much easier to work with than the Protege. Not to mention it's proper wheel drive and has a proper Mazda engine. Needless to say, Corksport can expect more business from me shortly :D
