626 manifold quetsion....yet another thread

Are u talking about the vics solenoid?
Maybe, its got a little Mitsubishi emblem on it.

And Alejo I know its a PG Mani because I emailed Ken several times about my order :) Its legit.

PG must've sent you one with a solenoid wihtout you needing it...
compare it to other pictures

if it has aCTUATORS or FLAPS then is not a real 626 01+ manifold, and i'm sorry to say this but probably you got sent the worng mani and that;s all

i know ken, so probably he'll help you out if anything went wrong...

take pics of it...let us look at it from every angle

Nah this solenoid did not come on the PG manifold, it came off the old manifold and I didnt know whether or not I could disconnect it so I just bolted it down on the PG mani. Ill get pics in about 20mins.

i know what solenoid you are talking about i need to look at my engine when i pull it into the shop in a couple of minutes to tell you exactly what it is but if i remember correctly you need it. I just used one bolt and bolted it to the top of the manifold. I dont remember it having a mitsu symbol though. The only VSV i remember with a mitsu sybol is the map sensor by the passenger strut housing

Alright heres the pictures. The first two are of the solenoid I was talking about in the previous posts. The 3rd is a picture of another solenoid that I have no idea if I need or not, or what it is.

yes those are the solenoids for the flaps/butterflies in your stock intake

the car will run without them...but you will get a CEL
i ran my PG manifold with and without them when i was hunting down an unrelated problem

you instaled it just fine

connect them and leave them withut vaccums conencted to them
that's the way i'm running mine without CEL;s

So if I just block off the vaccum lines but leave the sensors connected Ill be good to move these out of sight? Also what egr pipe are you using? Or is there a way around the cel from not having a egr pipe. Thanks alot for helping me out guys.

NO EGR PIPIE= Connect the EGR sensor, install the EGR valve to the manifold, Block off the EGR PIPE - NO CEL

W/ EGR Pipe = Do as usual, but the egr won't match up....some have used others means to bring the exhaust to the manifold...use creativity!... - NO CEL

NO EGR AT ALL = You will get a CEL.

The first option will not pass emissions
The second option will pass emissions
The third option will not pass emissions...

this is based on you still having cats installed, if not...egr or no egr you won't pass emissions

i have the egr on the car and plugged in just blocked off and it does throw a CEL. The EGR can detect flow and in this case you will throw an issuficient flow code. It may just not have run the monitor yet on your car to know any better

DO NOT disconnect that VSV on top of the intake mani. I have my car in the shop getting rdy for auto-x and saw what this goes to. It is important as it is the fuel presure VSV. It runs directly to the fuel presure regulator on the fuel rail. The two solenoids next to each other at the back of the stock mani can be removed those are the VICS and VTCS VSVs. Just plug them in and run them into the dead space between the manifold resevoir and runners where no body can see them. This way your CEL will stay off

That's what I thought, too. The one end goes to the fuel rail area. I would hate to see what would happen if you removed that guy. Boost + no extra fuel pressure = way lean probably.

OFF topic- does the JoeP FPR install somewhere in there to reduce the boost referenced fuel pressure? ANyone know?

Are you talking about the one that is bolted down? That one has two vaccum hoses coming off it and one of them has nothing to connect to.....Either way I left both of them plugged in. I guess Ill try reconnecting the vics and vtcs ones tomorow and see if my cel goes away.

that one with the bracket on it controlls the fuel presure regulator. one vac line goes to the intake manifold the other goes to the regulator on the fuel rail

haha.

Changed my intake a couple weekends ago. Car has a couple hundred miles on it with the new "old" intake and now I have CEL!! wooohoooo.;

and it kind of idles "funny"

my car idles better than ever, only thing is tyhat when the car is cold, it bogs at lower RPM's for some reason.

i haven't got a cel yet, and i shouldn't get one either since everything is connected and working perfectly, but who knows.

so far is been great

the car today seemed alot faster than it ever has!
WOOT?

i'm really happy with the outcome.

I have the "bog" problem when the car is cold, although it seems to have gotten somewhat better, and it only happens if I try to rev the engine quickly in neutral. If I just drive it, it's not problem. hmm.

I thought I hooked everything up as well. Went to great lengths to get the damn EGR to fit and everything. I don't know what's up.

Maybe I could post a video of how the car idles when it's warmed up. Maybe someone could say whether it sounds "normal" or not.
