5 Speed to Automatic

Lately I've been getting the idea of wanting an automatic. I own a 5 speed Pro5 and I love the car but I guess Im just tired of shifting. Would it be worth my time trying to swap an auto trans into my car? What would I need to get this done other than the auto trans?

its a lot easier switching to a auto vs switching to a mtx... however you can just find someone who wants to do a mtx swap and just swap parts with them.

dash harness is different, trans harness, ect, i think the axels are different as well.

I would love to do the swap if you can find someone that has the expertise to do it. Only problem is that I'm in OH

Prob the first time I've heard of someone trying to do this lol.Just sell the car and get an auto.

yea this is def the first time i have heard of anyone wanting to swap manual to auto haha, just trade the car in for a auto, but test drive it first so u can see if its what u want

Dub is planning on doing the same swap only reversed. Maybe wait for him to figure it out then he will be able to answer any questions.

Just swap or trade-in the car.

I'm not sure about the US version, but the OBDI MT and AT have different wiring... we couldn't make the AT ECU mate with the MT wiring harness... SO... you'll need to swap not only transmissions, but center consoles, pedals, wiring, ECUs, etcetera... definitely not worth it if you're not swapping the engine at the same time.

i would totally swap my auto (with manumatic) for a manual.

what are the specs on your car? color, mileage, mods?

im talking about just swapping cars completely. all of my mods are easily switched. no engine mods at all!

i still have all my parts from my swap.. but i'm all the way up in va :(

well i know they are different, i just know some cars have a seperate module for controlling the transmission.

if this was the case, the wire harnesses would need to be switched as well.

oops, i have no idea. but if they are different, then i guess a manual>auto swap would be that much more difficult. i now have a few extra wires/plugs left over in my engine bay and you wouldnt be able to do that in this case.

I'll have to find out more information about the wiring harness. Hopefully it doesn't have to be switched, if it does its going to be a pain.

I know it sounds crazy but I really want an Automatic.
