Heres when it/what happens - If I'm cruising on the highway, say at 65, and I let off for some reason, as I'm accelerating back up to my previous speed, the entire car begins to shake and its almost like the trans. is spinning but i cant grab the gear. Ive heard it could be the torque converter lockup solenoid, but I dont know. I took it to a mechanic this past weekend, and they said they have no idea what's causing the car to shake so violently (the mechanic was a certified trans. specialist). I really want to fix this problem, but I really cant if i dont know what's causing it. HELP!!!

ok, so I figured out what the problem is...its a code P0762, or a bad shift solenoid. I talked to some Mazda mechanics directly and they said it'd be better to just replace the entire transmission with a new remanufactured one because in the past, replacing the shift solenoid hasn't necessarily fixed the problem. :-( ughhh

I have seen at least one thread on m3f where a member had that same code, and just replacing the solenoid DID fix the problem. So if you can get that done for cheap at a non-dealer mechanic, it's probably worth a try before dropping a couple g's on a transmission replacement.

wow really? thats awesome! ive heard replacing it though is only a temporary fix, as the problem will return again soon. Any word on that?
