4 point ladder bar

i used the large stock washers to move the bar farther from the chasis and bought some other washers from home depot to use where the stock washers would have gone. who knows exactly where the clunk comes from or why it does what it does...... (doh) (shrug)

Saban. I doubt that that particular support is moving; that's the subframe brace and if that thing moved, we'd have a few more issues than just clunk.

Well thats good to know (cool) (I don't know much about cars, still learning)

Well after driving today for another 60+ miles on pothole infested downtown roads; There is no clunk. I have no idea were it went,(shrug) but MSP is now quiet as it should be.

The only time it does clunk a little is when one side of the car is on the bumpy side of the road and the other side is on the smooth side of the road. Otherwise its fine.

We used an air ratchet to tighten up everything, I guess the noise was coming from somewhere else. Oh well gone now

P.S. I did have brand new front sway bar bushings put on at the same time as the GT spec parts, maybe the noise I was hearing was the new front sway bar bushings breaking in?

Did you use the stock washers with the ladder bar?

Yep, no modifications here!

I hope to offer insight and take some good pictures of these parts during an install session on Saturday. I will post the results and link to it.

Also, I have the front lower tie bar, just not the ladder bar (I was concerned about clearance issues). And I don't get how the KB hangers would make it less likely to fit, since they would raise any aftermarket catless DP higher up off of the ladder bar. Maybe I will order it this next time around.

tytanium: The front tie bar will not fit if you have an Apex Down pipe. I know, I tired to install it when I had my down pipe on the car and it didn't fit.

Anyway, good luck and have fun with your install.

TheJohnny-
Thanks for the tip! Maybe I will send it back to EDO and swap (plus $$ difference) for the upper STB or 4pt ladder.

those little nubs that we ground down would probably be a good idea that way down the road you won't have to worry about then hitting the bar for some reason, know what I mean.

Actually it fit fine...there is about a 1/2" clearance from the Apex 2.5" DP.

dude, I want to see a pic.... when I tried to put it on with the 2.5" apex DP it wouldn't fit. I've got to see a pic of this. They even say that it won't fit somewhere, I've read it, I know I have. Hell, I'm serious, I couldn't get it to fit at all, it just kept high centering on the pipe.

Oh, I bet you mean the 4 pt bar. I was referring to the 2pt front tie bar. If you meant the 2pt., i would be glad to take a pic. Didint mean to throw you off (if you were talking about the 4 point, since I dont have one). let me know.

I've seen that one, but it's hard to make out exactly where it connects. I'm trying to see if it will work on the 99/00 subframe.

roger that. i will try to find my recent suspension overview pic tomorrow at work.

Not that I can tell. I did tons of mods all at once, and now the car just makes a lot of noise in general! haha...but I think the primary culprit is the endlinks...
