3rd Annual Lime Rock Park Mazda Corral-Grand-Am

Just made reservations at the Rocky River Motel in New Milford (40 min south of Lime Rock). We stayed there last year and it's a great drive down route 7 past Kent State Park. Seems far away, but there isn't much close to the track that is affordable.

Amanda has to work so we're going to drive down Friday evening so we catch all the fun starting Saturday morning.

Mel may remember. My ticket was nowhere to be found. My credit card was charged, but no one knew of my ticket. She ended up helping out (Thanks again!) but it was just a mess. Buy early!
mel is the best!
Route 8 sucks.... Highway.... Great route is Route 6 to Rt 72 to Rt 4. Putts you right into Torrington. A little longer, but definiltly more fun.

Formula One Cars at Lime Rock Park on Memorial Day Weekend

Eau Rouge, Becketts, Casino, Parabolica.
Formula One cars will add two new famous corners to their Curriculum Vita.
Big Bend and The Downhill.

For the first time, a breathtaking selection of Formula One Machinery from one of the great eras of the Series will be racing at Lime Rock Park on Memorial Day Weekend. Authentic cars from the World Championship will compete in two races organized by Historic Grand Prix, a group dedicated to the
preservation and use of these great machines. Cars that were driven to success by some of the greatest racers in the world will undoubtedly come close to breaking the Lime Rock Park track record in an unmatched demonstration of technical sophistication, power and handling.

The great names of the sport, Andretti, Senna, Gurney, Mansell, Moss, Ascari, Prost, and Schumacher all developed and affirmed their talent racing in Formula One. And, they drove cars which are legendarily faster than anything else around a given track.

Marques like Maclaren, Ferrari, Wolf, Penske, Cooper, and Lotus established their brands and competitive reputation racing at tracks like Monza, Silverstone, Spa and Monaco. Manufacturers like Toyota, Ford, Renault, Mercedes Benz, and BMW have spent hundreds of millions of dollars to show that they can match technical brilliance with the specialists who traditionally have concentrated on winning the Formula One World Championship.

With around 500 horse power available in cars weighing not much more that a thousand pounds these cars promise to provide a really tremendous spectacle on the 1.5-mile Lime Rock Park. And, they will be on view in a special Midway Paddock area.

For a fascinating moment, Lime Rock Park on Memorial Day Weekend will echo to the resounding sounds and spectacular sights of real Formula One cars from the glory days of the World Championship...when Villeneuve, Hunt, Peterson, and Andretti hurtled towards their destiny all over the globe.... not a spectacle to be missed!

The Road Racing Classic on Memorial Day Weekend will also feature the Koni Challenge and F2000. Event tickets and Premier Fan Hospitality tickets are on sale now. All tickets include free access to the paddock area and free parking. Discounted advance tickets are available until Friday, 15 May. Following that date, higher gate pricing will apply. Kids 12 and under are always free.

Cool...Haven't got to see an F1 car up close since I went to the Detroit Gran Prix way back when.

Trying to juggle things around to be down there for more days. Pretty sure I can swing Friday and Saturday. Tried for one more day, but it got rejected in committee (fiance). Still working on her though, LOL.

Last time I saw them was when they did Grand Prix down the streets of Miami... Anyone want to guess how long ago that was?

Will call took good care of me when I rolled in last time at almost midnight to camp for the night.
No line then!

Bought my ticket. I should be there friday AM. Flying back from Columbus on Thursday, last few business trips I took from there got hopelessly delayed, hopefully flight is on time this time. Monday is probably going to be the other day I head down, will probably need to catch up on sleep saturday.

so I will absolutely be at this...just dunno if I can buy the ticket in time to have it mailed...

my brother is coming back from CA for the first time in a year for that week, so i'll be spending time with the fam as well...

:D:D:D

just got word that there's a car show at my mom's school and my brother's old school that friday night.

It's pretty close to limerock and literally on the way from limerock to bristol.

My dad won Best in Show last year or the year before...it's a great little show that hasn't really seen the likes of us Mazda people :) It would be awesome is NEPOC crew joined me at it, since I'm definitely going to that show as well.

It is on the way. If my sister is around for my pup I'll stop on the way home. If not I'll have to head straight home from Lime Rock.

Speaking of that. You think Lime Rock is too loud for a dog?
