3m carbon fiber wrap...

Cracks in the clear or in the CF? I know plenty of people that have their CF hoods re-cleared for cheap. But that does look decent.

The clear I am pretty sure. I had my hood re-cleared but the cracks were still there. Not sure if they didn't sand down enough or?? But now the clear is peeling after about a year. Thanks, I think it looks pretty cool. Like a dry carbon or something. Will be interesting to see how long these last.

I want to order some. and play around with it. there have been a few sites popped up in this thread, where did most people get it from?

and how much sq/ft do you all think i need for a 3's roof?

I got mine on Ebay but the Ebay store was Carbonfibergear.com and at their site they have various sizes ans descriptions of what the sizes should cover

If you end up ordering form that site let me know, Im not buying any more for a while but have a coupon for 5% off at their site, Ill PM you the code if you want it

when you are covering the wing for example, how do you mate the ends of the edges of the wrap?

also, how do you all think this would hold up outside, in the snow?

How well do you think this would cover the hail damage on my roof? No big dents, but hundreds of little - medium ones.

Probably not very well I'm afraid...

Nah I don't think it would hide them, you would still see the impressions once the stuff was laid down and stuck

just got some wrap... first impression was good. the looks it spot on. Maybe im just not good with my hands but i dont find it as easy to work with as you all say. Here is my first project. I did it once, didnt like to so i ripped it all off and did it again.

Im going to save enough to try and cover my roof... just want to get a little better with the stuff before i go that far.

Hey everyone using this stuff, i have a consern... can it be removed if it starts to look ugly? I read this, and it worries me, that if i do my roof and then is 2-3 years i want to remove it, it might lift my paint or damage something... what do you think?

-------------------------

DI-NOC architectural finishes may be removable, but it is also possible that it may damage the substrate underneath. DI-NOC should generally be considered a permanent application. If Primer94 is used (which we recommend for installation), it should not be expected to be removed without substrate damage since it’s an adhesion promoter. 3M lists the following steps for removal tips:

The following removal techniques can be tried, but the effort and results will vary.

1.Make cuts in the film about 4 inches apart, making sure not to damage the substrate.
2.Use a hair drier or heat gun set to 200F to soften the film’s adhesive.
3.Immediately pull the film down at about a 150 degree angle.
4.Heat more of the film and continuing pulling.

I wonder if I should use this stuff to refinish my DG fron lip...

I wouldnt, if you have something that is already real CF you should take the time / energy to re-clear it properly. This stuff it nice, but i wouldnt use it to cover up an already nice CF piece
