High gloss clear did not turn out like expected but I have more tricks up my sleeve when time permits.....

The smooth finish comes with the 7+ coat but you lose the weave through it. I just tried another peice and sanded it down and now I got a matte black look. No CF weave.

808 let em know if you would like to see these. I do not have an issue mailing them to you since you funded this experiment. I have not used all my ideas yet....

The clear overlay I think would yield the same results....

But with 4 coats and a buff you will have no issues with outdoor use. 2&3 would yeild better resulta then none I would imagine.

no worries... glad to see someone making an effort to test the clear out for the mazda community

Do you need to have a heat gun to apply this stuff or will a hair dryer work just as well?

Go some of this CF wrap at home, i want to try it out this weekend.

Thanks. I'm pretty impressed how easy this stuff is to work with. I was a virgin at this but it turned out pretty damn good for a first time!

Same here, I just jumped in and covered pretty much all the interior trim with the stuff, without even working with vinyl or anything before

I jumped on the wagon with this stuff as well. What do you guys think?...Oh and sorry for the phone pics camera is broken:(...

Whew! I almost had to slap you if you covered your hood and trunk with this stuff. I dont know, man. I still think it's silly to cover parts in fake CF, especially when you've got the real stuff right next to it. But it's your car.

LOL! Its just for fun. I am sure I will remove it in the future and its in pretty discreet places so not totally obvious Just the emblem but it looks really close the the real stuff in person. I would never do my hood trunk or roof. I have the real stuff for that lol. But this stuff is really cool and when I get my roof cap on I am going to cover the middle part of my wing to see how I like it. I had been thinking of painting it but don't want to do that if I hate it.

So I decided to wrap my center console DELL pod with it. With a very light amount of heat this stuff becomes very easy to work with. I then sprayed a couple light coats of clear coat over it to darken it up and give it some shine. Overall I really like the product.

Here's a close up of the vinyl with no clear.

The finished product. Here you can compare between real CF and the vinyl. It's difficult to see in a photo, but the vinyl still retains that CF "effect" when you move around it.

Looks good altspace!

My buddy decided to wrap his carbon hoods in this stuff. It sounds dumb but here was his dilemma. He went to get a quote on painting them to match the car but the paint guy said it would only last a season because the hoods had cracks and it would come through by next summer. This was going to cost him 800$. Next option is to dish out 1,000$ for a new hood and a new trunk lid but they no longer make his same trunk lid in carbon. so that left this 250$ option. Was kind of a pain but very interesting learning how to do it. here are some before and after pics...

Cracks in the clear or in the CF? I know plenty of people that have their CF hoods re-cleared for cheap. But that does look decent.
