323 GT and GTX stock electronic boost controller?

A few months ago I drove a 323GT and a I remember it having a switch that could go from something like "economy" to "power", essentially a factory ebc. I have a friend who says he had a 323GTX and it never had any such option.

what I am wondering is if there is anyone who owns a 323GT or GTX that could clear this up for us, and if anyone has a picture of this switch or a brochure from 88-89 that shows the ebc as an option.

also wondering if anyone has a pic of a fully illuminated factory cluster showing the electronic boost gauge that works inside the tachometer, just under the numbers for the tach.

thanks for any pics/help, jeff

maybe the switch you saw can shut off a cylinder or two, similar to those new SUVs that can shut off the cylinders they don't need in order to save gas.

edit: but i just realized how complicated that would be to install on an older car, so that's probably not it.

My 88' GT doesnt have anything like that either. From what ive ever learned from these cars, no such option was offered for these cars. All there is that is electronic is a boost cut. Mine is unplugged since I can safely run more then 10 psi. The only switch I can think of that you might have seen was maybe the suspension electronic controls. Its supposed to soften or tighten the suspension system for sport or cruise types of driving.

maybe the boost cut switch was the switch he was talking about, but the guy just relabeled it so he could feel cool.

theres a switch like that on ford thunderbird turbo coupes form the 80's i think it just changes the timming from premium to regular fuel

do you by any chance happen to know were i can get my hands on a turbo manifold for my gtx /? preferably a stock one....

I was thinking it was a suspension setting too. One of my coworkers had an 88 MX-6 GT with electronic suspension, I'm not sure if the 323 had that option too.

So... to clear some things up.... at least as far as the GTXs go, There was an adjustable suspension option. No Ebc not that i have seen at least. As far as the digital guages. There is a "boost guage" in the center of the tach, i would take a photo of mine for you but its not working at the moment. It does not in any way measure the amount of boost. Just lets you know if your boosting or not. It basically swirls around like the tach / speedo but is full at anything over 0psi.

Hope this helps

Rob
