3 quick Qs, pls

I ran Motul Gear 300 75W-90 in my last car. The transmission felt so much better after adding that.

Dealers mark up the parts and accessories they sell a lot. Take the Mazdaspeed wheels made by Ray's for example. Mazda sells them to dealers for $360. MSRP? $550. There are quite a few vendors (i.e. ProtegeGarage) that will go below that, but most dealers will charge MSRP, and sometimes more. I'm sure Mazda sets the MSRP, but are dealers obligated to charge that? I don't know.

I'm sorry, but you must be kidding.

A $190 markup on a $550 product? This is MORE THEN FAIR!

Do you expect them to sell it for $400 or something?

As a rule of thumb:

I you own your own business, try to make 40-50 points of profit on parts, and 60-75 points on labor.

Ask any profitable brick-and-mortar shop.

The final price is determined by market tendencies and supply/demand, but those wheels are completely acceptable in markup. The intake is probably a bit more close to reality, though.

Dispute? (dunno)

none from me. look at the shoe market. thats a prime example of the supply and demand curve. they make em for 3 dollars and ssell them for 100 dollars. its micro and macro economics. the supply curve is hopefully out weighted by the demand curve and people pay huge amounts of money for it. the price goes lower the less that are demanded. its the starting price for the intake. like he said its not all that marked up if they get it for around 360. plus our car has only been out for a year so once they see how many are sold (less=lower price, more=stationary price) and they will adjust the price accordingly. any vendor will testify to it.
