3.5 Racing Harts question

I'm interested in ordering a set of 3.5 Racing Harts for my P5 with 215/45/17 tires and eibach springs. I realize there will be some rubbing issues can this be avoided with a different size tire?

Thanks in advance!

Rigo

215/45/17 is the stock tire size on the MSP...anyone know for sure that this rubs on a P5? I would think that it wouldn't...

Looking through the forums, it does rub when making tight turns... I'm curious if a different size tire would make a difference. I like the look but don't want the hassle of having the tires rub if I can help it. I'm also curious to know if having three or four people in the car creates a problem for this set up.

215/40/17 is what i perceive as the ideal size. i beleive it is closest in diameter to stock size as well so the speedom/odom wont be too off, and i have yet to hear of any problems with that size.

Even though the tires are slightly bigger than what comes stock on the P5, you shouldn't have rubbing problems because of the extremely high +55 offset of the RacingHarts.

I sold my RH's to a P5 guy last week. We installed them without any rubbing issues. It is tight but no rubbing .

im that P5 guy... :)

i like the 215-45s , sure it rubs but u pretty much have to turn the wheel all the way to one side... i can live with that. the good thing about using a 45 series versus a 40 series is that the 45 is 7/8" taller. that makes the car a tiny bit slower but adds another 7/16" of tire in between the center of the hub ant the fender (thats 7/8" divided by 2). so thats kinda like adding a 7/16" drop to ur car since more of that empty wheel well space is taken up by the extra height of the tires.. also the extra meat on the tires makes for a more comfortable ride.

in this pic the 40 series tire will make this gap between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender and extra 7/16" larger...

good luck.

btw, it doesnt rub with normal driving and hard cornering etc..

speedo changes:

215-45 from stock
speedo reads - 60mph
actual speed - 62.4mph

215-40 from stock
speedo reads - 60mph
actual speed - 60.2mph

good luck.

is your car lowered?

The MSP wheels are +50 offset, not +55 like the MP3 wheels.

215/40/17 is a better size than 215/45...I thought the MSP ran on 215/40, I guess not.

The MP3 wheels are split 5-spoke design. It looks different. The wheel you pictured in your post is the MSP wheel.

its also a 3.5 wheel. the 03s are more silver. the 03.5 are darker.

paid 600 for wheels and 400 for the tires, they were flawless and had less than 3000 miles on them... well worth it in my book.it was gonna cost me like 550 to replace my stock tires... spent a couple of hundred more and got a complete new look

s*** yah looks great and good deal (thumb) you done good mate i wish i had a set over here would be the only ones over here if i did.

When I Installed my 3.5's I had the rubbing (only in REALLY tight right turns). Im thinking about getting some high quality spacers to see if that fixes the problem. Id also like to get the spacers so that the wheels will fill in the wheel well a little bit better. They look great on the car (especially the classic red, huh dream merchant!) and Im damn glad I got them.

Those wheels should be a +50...I don't know why they rub.

Delsing Motorsports has a quality spacer kit. The only thing about spacers though is that you can jack up the hubs...

CAltitude, i hear ya...

spacers in the rear would make a tight fit.

i just make it a point to work on my 2 point turning instead of cranking the wheel... hehe. :)
