2nd to 3rd gear shifting problems?

I have a 2007 Mazda3 I-Touring 2.0L 5 speed sedan.

I recently blew the third gear synchronizer and third gear itself (entire repair paid for under my extended warranty thankfully - new snychronizer, new third gear etc). I remember reading somewhere that this is a common breakdown for the Mazda3 sedan.

Even with a brand new synchronizer and third gear, my car just does not like to shift from 2nd to 3rd at anything over 4,000 RPMs. 3,000 and under its happy. 3,000-4,000 it starts to take a little effort and I can really feel it when I shift. 4,000-6,000 and it feels almost like its going to blow the synchronizer again. And its only the shift from 2nd to 3rd when I have such difficulty - not a problem making any other shifts. Hard to redline it because of this problem (drive2)

Anyone else having this problem??? (uhm)

Would the installation of a short shifter help at all????

Thanks for the feedback

first, the installation of a short shifter would not help. go back to the dealership and tell them whats going on. was it like this as soon as you got the car back?

when was the repair done? a TSB came out a month ago about this with updated parts

you need to run synthetic gear oil also to stop this from happening again

Yea, I know....more hoping it worked for someone else lol. Yup, like that from the start. I'll be making a call to the dealership, will let you know what they say.

It was fixed July 3rd - so does that mean I can go back to the dealer and have them redo it with the updated parts?

I also have a similar problem with my 3rd as well.

"TheMan": Do you have a link or a copy that you can put up for the TSB you are talking aoubt?

I have done full tranny fluids changes with royal purple synthetic oil as well.
this is probably due to bad shifting as well as wear, i got 107,xxxkms on my car.

I recently did a transmission flush to Redline's MT-90. Absolutely no difference from the Pennzoil 75W90 gear oil that was in there. Another member gave me some recommendations to fix this, I am going to try them and I'll post back. But as far as a dealer TSB, there is nothing that I am aware of that fixes this. I'll be back...........
