2nd map clamp is a go!

welcome to the world of piggyback my brotha. you will constantly be changing your map depending on the weather. I dont care what anyone tells you. I found this out on my srt and my evo. Piggybacks need constant attention.

Ps. My car does that same s*** as soon as i put my tmic back on. Something about the car, I dont know which sensor it is.

I understand (and share) the frustration with piggyback limitations but as ecus evolve they are becoming increasingly difficult to crack. The GTR has been promoted as "uncrackable" with 64 bit encryption and something like 1.2M lines of code. Piggybacks are limited in that you have to figure out how the car responds to the changes and the response is not always intuitive. The advantage is that you can run them on anything pretty quickly. If you're patient and careful they'll be almost as effective as a reflash.

Since Cobb hates the speed6, I'm bound and determined to figure out how our ecus respond to temperatures and standback changes.

Something better will come laloosh dont u worry. Im gonna just run the apexi neo for now untill either a flash comes out or cobb. The mapclamp and neo will do just fine for now at a fraction of cost of the piggyback systems out right now.

i want 20 dollasr from you...paypal...like now....for saving you money lol
Get ready to play with the neo every 15-20 degree temp changes lol.

Btw i got a lil s3 skittle lined up for friday. Im gonna make sure im not leaning out and set it that night for the race. I think im gonna get pulled but well c(enguard)

On hom or off hom?

Off hom would be killa race. On hom its gonna be game over for you if he can drive. Im stoked to see that showdown.

I was thinking that an AFC would have to be adjusted often, but never thought every 15-20 derees. Where I live mornings are ~30*, afternoons ~45*, and noght it's back down to ~30*. That would mean I would have to take a look at my A/F ratios every time I drive to the city, becuse it's it's 10* warmer there.

This is going to get complicated quickly.

temps dropped 15 degrees and my car went 1 full point leaner. tuned it at 40 degrees to 11.5 11.8 last night at 25 degrees it was running 12.5ish with spikes to 12.8

for some reason i cant post a new thread, but i foudn out somethign VERY scrary last night.

ok so i went for a lil pull last night. 18 psi, boom fuel cut/boost cut i dotn even know which one. i was data logging the whole run and my a/f ratios were mid to high 12 the whole way. WTF i didnt change my tune at all, i put on my 2nd map which is all zeroed out and the af ratios were 12ish at 15psi

i tuned when it was 40 out,11.5-11.8 the whole way. last night was 24-5 degrees out. This car is REAL picky when it comes to cold weather, its beyond belief stupid. just letting every1 know, that if you got tuned when it was a lil warmer out, dont even attempt to push your car in the cold.

This is probably the reason most of these engine are blowing. i dont know why this car runs so lean when it gets cold out but it does

Loosh, MAF cars typically add more timing in colder weather. When it comes to blowing up engines, statistics show it happens mostly during the cold months. We had a streak on the Lightning forums that trucks were blowing up each week on the East Coast. After many datalogs, the ECU was overiding the software in the chip and increasing timing as much as 6 degrees above their regular street tune. Pretty scary stuff, use caution!

Keep a conservative tune for the street and fine tune it for a race.

And, if meth is too expencive for you, you can always go with denatured alcohol (can be bought in a paint store, Lowes, or Home Depot).

He doesnt even need to do that. Goto pepboys, vatozone, or wherever that sells de-icing windshield washer fluid. It contains an already pre-mix of meth/water.. Just pick your favorite color. :) Less than .99 a gallon.

It's not a 50/50 mixture. More like a 35% meth and the rest water. Water has cooling properties, which he doesn't need. Methonal has a tendancyto rais octane, which would greatly help him because the car may throw more timing, and since the meth raises octain, that would prevent detonation.

Yeah if its not the blue stuff dont use it. Also check for bug dissolving ingredients, rainX or other additives.. you just want meth/water.. nothing fancy
