2nd gen rx7 to drift?

soooo hello everyone. i own a msp. my baby but unfortunately you cannot drift those ha. so i was lookin into a fc rx7 cause i want to get into drifting.

you think its worth it to try and drift it?

are parts hard to get?

Parts are readily available for the FCs. We sell quite a few parts for them.

I see a decent amount of FCs drifting still and they seem to hold their own.

DTSS eliminator bushings. Look into them.

I know quite a few fc drifters. Toe-steer elim. and bump-steer kit are a good investment.

are they hard to maintain? i know the third gens are.

i was lookin into gettin a 240 but idk. i just want something that can be fun for cheap. i dont mind investin parts but i need somethin driftable like right away and some guys out at the nico forums were sayin basically just get coilovers and some suspension work and worry about the hp thing later. what do u guys think?

and if i turbo the fc do i have to switch out the rotor for different compression?

You would need to do a full turbo swap or just buy a turbo II. Buying a turbo II or someone else's turbo swap project would be the easiest way.

All rotary engines are a little more serious on the maintenance, but the FC is, IMHO, the easiest to maintain.

FC's are not good starter cars for drifting. The 240's are much better to start out with. See the link above for explanations. Wouldn't necessarily need to turbo, but a big power is increased over stock N/A power. There are several N/A 20B FC's drifting out there but those swaps are $$$. The modifications called out above are a must.

Oh yeah, turbo'ing a N/A RX7 is a lot more involved than a Protege or Civic for that matter. That is unless you swap a TII drivetrain as mentioned above.

ive been into rx7's for years ever since i watched initial d i know sounds stupid but the way the car looks and handles is nice i had an rx7 that didnt run started to work on it and than i had to move and sell it i am back and want to buy another im not so good on money but i have some i was curious if you guys see any around for sale to pm me thanks ^_^
