2nd Gear?

how strong are the 2nd and 5th gears stock in the MSP? I'm going with GTX gears, just trying to decide how far i need to go with them.

shat huh...i just saw it for sale on a site...they should update that....I guess i'll just go 3rd and 5th for now then. from what ive read,2nd is decently strong unless you tell me otherwise.

Why not do it all at the same time. Why would you just replace a couple for now. Seems like a big waste to me. If you are going to have everything apart I would do it all. I believe in building things beter than what you think is necessary. You will benefit from it in the future.

Well afaik, they dont make new gtx 1st, 2nd, and 4th gears anymore, at least you cant purchase them from Mazda.. If he was to upgrade all at once it would cost a few thousand in parts and if he didnt do the labor himself... oh boy..

Plus not everyone may have the coin to drop on a built trans all at once..

Building all the gears in this tranny is a waste to begin with in my opinion. I just want to replace the gears that take the most beating and break the easiest. Like Itsslow said it would cost a lot of money to relplace them all which is just a waste considering the tranny is flawed to begin with. I Just need it to last me a year till I have the cash to get a dogbox.

You'll spend a ~1/4 of what the dogbox costs just to replace the weak gears though (if you do it correctly).. IMO, just take it easy on your trans until you get the money for a better trans..

That was AFTER I started researching the information I was given... which turns out to be true. GTX gears are a waste of money.

don't u think its how u shift that makes ur gears go out so just learn how to s***!!! no no jk but really it seams that only our trans go bad i guess just a bad design huh? is there a permanent way to fix it is the real ????

Well i just ordered 2nd 3rd 4th gears for my tranny. They stopped making 4th for a while i guess but they started making them again. I Know this isnt a permanenant solution but for the $ spent its not THAT bad of an investment.

Its not the shifting that break the 3rd gears.. They break while already in gear.. Mine just spun itself completely from the shaft..

They only claim to be 15% stronger...thats not that much stronger. If you want strong gears you have pay 900 per set of gears. Atleast thats what i was quoted. I just paid 675 for the gears that are a slighty stronger. If that money can save me from buying a tranny before the time im ready to get a built one then it was money well spent. If not then it was worth the shot and i'll just have to sack up scrape the bottom of the penny jar and get the built tranny. I dont beat my cars so I'm hoping to be alright.
