2nd Annual California Protege meet.

Pismo pier would never be clear for 30+ cars unless it gets blocked off in advance. It's a nice location but theres also a lot of kids around that like to "touch" and play with cars.

Mazda HQ in 1 month isn't going to fly, vendors and attendees need much more time to prepare and plan schedules and promotions. It would be a better idea for mid-late next year.

hmmm good point, I think the mazda hq would be cool. I think we do a central meet first, take a grip of pics, have fun. And schedule another all cali meet later at mazda hq. At least we'll have some experience and some numbers to work off of.

Mazda HQ in the future. As for a location or date, I have no prefrence, as long as its on weekends.

Mazda R&D in Irvine would be nice, but it would require a lot more cars and a whole lot of vendors for Mazda to consider. I don't think they allow any of these types of events at Mazda HQ, which is also in Irvine. To give you an idea, Sevenstock 6 was held there this last weekend. There must have been at least 500 R100s, RX-2s, RX-3s, RX-4s, RX-5s, RX-7s, and RX-8s. I am still looking for the final word on the number of cars, but it was massive! There were also about 50 vendors there.

I don't think we'll ever be able to get that kind of response with Protege's... certainly not within a few months. That kind of event will take at least 6 months of planning!

With the number of cars that a meet like this would bring (probably about 50), we would have to have permissions and/or permits from where-ever we would meet. This is especially true of any state parks or beaches.

The first 3 Sevenstocks were BBQ's with only 20 cars to start. As I said, Mazda HQ would be a good plan to shoot for in the future. I think we can do it eventually. Maybe not a Protege Stock. But with Protege's/ The 6/ The 3/ Miata. I went to SevenStock this weekend, and 500 cars is around the right number.

What we need is someone that lives in Ventura or Santa Barbara counties. It's too hard to find a location without being there... I can think of lots of places here in Oceanside/San Diego. Heck, I bet I can even get a dealership to hold/sponsor the event! Up there, I don't know. Anyone?

I think it would be best in Ventura county also. I would'nt mind going all the way up to Nocal, but with the condition that next year Socal gets the meet down here. or it coul dbe vice versa. So now all we need is help finding a location. Thanks Jerry for deciding to do this!!!!!!!!!:D

Btw the best dates in Nov. for me would be 9 Sat. or 23 Sat.

I think a lot of people are forgetting it doesn't have to be just proteges. I think we should think of it more as a mazda meet than a protege meet. After mocc is Mazda of California Club. I think the turnout just between proteges, miatas, and 6s should be great. We should also post our thing onto the miata boards and such.

Well in that case it should be the 1st annual Mazdas of California Meet :D . Would i tbe more of a hassle to get this done if there are other cars involved??

I think it would result in a better turnout. And new members. I dont think its a hassle at all. I will register to other forums myself to post it.

I don't know if the Miata Club would be up for meeting with us "inferior" Protege's. They turn up their noses to the RX-7 clubs half the time when they try to do a joint event.

However, this all goes in line with my new website that I need to get up off my a$$ and do... 4doorzoom.com

Protege's, 323's, 626's, 6's, 929's, Millenia's, and the two-door variants: MX-3's and MX-6's. I don't know if the 929 and Millenia owners are up to these type of events, but I know plenty of the others would. This idea has been running around in my head for quite a while now. But now that I finally have high-speed internet (when it's up), I can get to this. But, I recently went solo on a new Mac (I had both PCs and Mac's, but Mac-only now), so I need to get Photoshop to really get this site moving. I don't suppose anyone has Photoshop for Mac OS X?

If we could get all of these cars together, I bet we could have a pretty good size meet (easily 100+ cars). We could even attract vendors. But, we still need a location!

Way to go Spicy and Jstand.....my heroes (k) , Im pretty sure vendors would come if it's a large amount of vehicles. All we have to do is call them and let them know. As long as they make parts for those cars they will come. Matter off fact as soon as I get a date and location I will recommend the event on speedoptions.com, so they can show up and take pics.
