you're a dumbass if you think that the GVWR given on the door sticker has anything to do with the car's actual wet weight, if that's the case then I want my monies back cause I sure as hell didnt pay to get no damn 2850lbs miata

Well whoops you caught me....I'm a dumbass....I had no clue that the GVWR wasn't the curb weight...DUHHH !! (freak) The same sticker however contains the VIN# which I can match with the vehicles options on point #2 Which is the released specifications of said vehicle.....

better tell these guys they're wrong too

they seem to think the ZX is a bit lighter

Ever heard of the MVMA ??? All manufacturers release DETAILED reports on EVERY make and model....That website is VERY incomplete...It lists one weight for cars with MULTIPLE options.....think a 2+2 weighs the same ??? Or an automatic ???? Or a model with power windows and power steering vs one without ???Or a turbo charger system ??

i said IF you think that, touchy aren't we

see what I mean. childesh ways isn't always name calling. but by saying I'm right your wrong, with out providing your proof or how you got your info is childesh yes. and if you want to get technical GVWR is not the actual weigth of the vehicle. The GVWR includes the net weight of the vehicle, plus the weight of passengers, fuel, cargo and any accessories added to the vehicle after purchase.

I have been reading hybridz.org (finding parts for my 510) and from what i have seen tampasport20 is right. plus the fact that the ZX had a bigger fuel tank would explain the higher GVWR.

takes me back

The car i built after college was a 1972 240z with an L28 and the twin SU carbs from the original 240 motor. It was very quick and loud (and fun!) but handling was far from modern.

I prefer the 240 simply because of the less ugly bumpers and more classic interior, but they're probably tough to find these days.

One thing to keep in mind on the early Zs is that the rear hatch doesn't necessary seal that well, and due to the aerodynamics of the car exhaust fumes have a tendency to seep in the cabin. Just check that, otherwise you'll literally be committing suicide (albeit on a small scale) every time you drive it :)

If i had the place to put one, I'd buy one again...

Good luck,
Dolan

Gawd I remember that. I kept thinking I had an exhaust leak.

The early ones also had issues with overheating, hence the hood vents on later models. L28's are rock solid though. Every time I see one in the junkyards the body is rusted to hell and the engine is perfect.
