2800 miles on MS3 w/ check engine light

I had the same exact issue with my car a few weeks back... Had it towedx to the dealer and they claimed "no codes present" or any CEL on the car. Yeah, they just disc the battery seeing as all my presets were gone. Seems to run alright now though

since you had the same problem and your not running an open dp, and someother guy on here was running an open dp and did not have this issue.... maybe the open dp was never the problem? yet everyone blamed rodney., see what happens when people jump to conclusions

Unfortunately, this is one of the risks you take when you put unauthorized mods on your car. I can empathize with your situation, but I cannot feel sorry for you. You had to know this going in. Good luck with it.

First off, he did not install a part on this car. He took the complete stock CBE off. But I do agree with everyone else...this was a stupid idea to run nothing but a stock downpipe. I hope everyone gets a chance to see this thread.

This is the sole reason why i havent installed ANY mods on my car. My previous car has a few things put in and when the dealer saw it, automatically blammed it. Im keeping this baby stock, so if anything happens, they dont have any mod to blame.
Yup I agree. THe dealer will take anyhting and twist it to make him more money. Don't give a dealer ammo by having mods on your car.

and you will live the life of a boring MS3 owner ... (laugh)
I plan to mod after the warranty expires, if I really want mod much at all. I would like to mod as problems arise when the exhast gets a leak in it then get a new 3" exhast. Something inside of me hates to take off a brand new part and replace it. I wanna get some use out of my stuff.

Heck, i came from an Automatic 130hp car to this....so trust me, i am NOT bored. (direct)
I agree here to. 260hp is enough power for some folks, especialy in a fwd car. Some people will have alot of fun with simply a stock car.

young roids, you do know that dealers get paid by mazda when they do warranty service work right? so why would dealers be soooo quick to throw the read flag in? if you say that dealers are all about money, then why not keep a mazda for a month trying to figure out how to fix it?

now that a screw ball for ya...figure it out!

I never have worked for a dealer before so I can't really tell you why. But I bet that they get alot more money for non warranty repairs than repairs that are under warranty. They need something to make then not want to fix stuff under warranty or else the dealsership just wouldn't run at all. If they were all bringing in tons of dough for every warranty car being fixed they would come up with millions of things to fix all the time.

Actually, several reasons:

1) They get paid WAY more for non-warranty repairs.
2) They have to justify to Mazda the warranty covered repair. Depending on the situation, that may be difficult to impossible when dealing with a modded car.
3) Dealers who have a lot of warranty repairs are flagged by Mazda. In theory, they should be averaging with the rest of the dealers do. Lots of warranty repairs reflect badly on them.
4) If they get caught doing warranty repairs on modded cars, they (the dealers) can get in a lot of trouble. The policy on modification coverage is pretty detailed and lengthy. (As it is with all car companies.)

it was NOT the same problem..... one was a glitch that needed to be reset

the other (the one this thread is about) was for MELTED WIRES (see post #8)
it's quite clear that this is a different case, so yes - we blame rodney... we can feel his pain and understand, but this is not a mazda warrenty case

please read the thread before YOU jump to conclusions

im the guy that everyone's talking about that ran a open stock downpipe, and i don't see how you guys buy the cars and keep them stock...(uhm). these cars have alot of hidden potental, it would be a shame to see someone waste this nice car like that. oh and by the way i had my car fixed for a couple months, the problem i had was that it back fired like flames underneath and blew a hole in the heat shield and after that happened it was able to get the floor board hot enough..to melth the body control harness.
