26+ Psi!!

ya so i installed a map clamp and a forge boost controller and when i got done i went for a ride first i turned my boost controller all the way down then i was cruising at 35mph and i floored it in 3rd and WOW i looked at the boost gauge while i floored it and it spiked at 26 i let off as fast as i could then i tried 2nd gear at 35mph and it went to 22 and held at 19 and my boost controller is turned all the way down!!!!! then went home and tried the other spring the controller came with but it was the same result......(killit) i could only imagine what kind of spike i would get if i was rolling at 60mph and floored it in 6th gear im afraid to find out so im not!!! what could this be????

Mine does the same thing with the forge mbc and forge dv installed. Thats why I run the turbosmart now. All the way down the forge will spike 25psi in 3rd no problem.
 
Kinks won't cause your gauge to spike HIGHER than the boost you are making...

Double check the installation of the MBC. Make sure it is oriented correctly and that there are no leaks.
 
when I had stock dv, it would spike 21-22psi in 4th and 5th and hold 17-18psi hard. then with the forge dv redspring it would go all the way to 26psi+. the forge just makes to much boost for this car.
 
no the gauge is fine its always worked an its correct... but i blocked the smaller hose on the wastegate and the sensor thing to... so im thinking its the boost controller... caust there is no adjustment to the controller at all i turned it all the way down and it still goes to 26psi and drops to 24 and them my car cuts out....
 
even if i turned the controller all the way up it still does the same exact thing.. and Driver311 do u have the turbosmart T bc
 
If these motors can hold 26lbs boost and the afr is good, s*** buy good gas and go.

Im gonna run around 20lbs on stock turby because of its efficiency.
That will be on good gas or Methanol kit. I have a friend who custom
builds methanol kits for Buicks, cobras and many other car makes.

well i found the problem!!!! i went to a local performance shop and bought a turboxs mbc and put it in and bam works perfectly there NO spike at all... the forge mbc i fisrt had was a bad one... thats was a waste of money...

same here i tossed the forge for a turbo smart one. It only spikes 21 max and thats stepiing on 6th gear at a low speed......

trust me it aint bad it just doesn't work very good.......
 
works good for cars with bigger turbos. i run it on all the srts I do 50trims on. forge makes awesome bc's but boost a little to high for this car.
