I want to use 235/40/18 Nitto NT01 tires for the 2011 lapping season.
Just wonder which rim should I pick.

I want to hear from folks running this tire dimension, I would like to know which rim are you using (diam, width, offset).
Also advise if your setup rubs or not.

My first pick was the Enkei RPF1, 18x7.5, offset 48mm.
I heard it may be better to use an 8in wheel, an 18x8, offset 48mm or 45mm???

NOTE: I am lowered with Eiback Pro-Kit.

Please advise.
Thanks

use an 8" wheel.....I use the RPf 1 17 X 8 45mm offset I am on coilovers, does not rub

Overall wheel diameter would be 4.75% smaller then stock size.
In theory, we should stay within 2% of overall wheel diameter.

I thought about using 245/45/17. Not sure it would run without any rubbing issues.

I found that there is a greater tire selection for an 18in wheel with 235/40/18. About all tire companies have a tire of that size. Also, the cost for a 235/40/18 is marginally higher compared to a 17in tire. We are talking about $120 for a set of 4 tires (CAN $$). Not something to break the bank. So really, the only significant savings would be with the wheels. But wheels can be sold after when no longer needed.

So, any input from anyone concerning the use of 235/40/18? I understand that an 8in rim width is better, what about the offset? I guess if a 45-48 offset works on a 17x8 rim, it would also work fine for an 18in wheel?

If you're willing to roll the rear fenders you could get some Evo X Enkei wheels for under $700, no hub rings required.
If you don't want to roll the fenders I'd recomment RX8 wheels.

I put pictures in the wheel thread...

Those look sweet.
I'm going to run RX8 next year with 235/40/18.
Looking at NT05 or the Hankook Ventus though - for the street obviously.
Supposedly no rubbing with this tire size on this particular rim with no drop.
