225 40 18 on 8.5 rim

:

Ok, i've heard people say NOT to put a 225 on an 8.5 rim, and some say its ok.
So i checked falkens web site and it says the tire is good for a 8.5 rim

I mean people put the stock 215 on a 8 inch rim so why wouldn't a 225 be ok on a 8.5

the reason i don't want to do the 235 is that i want to paint the wheels once i get them, and i can do a better job with the tires off..

also i can swap the TMPS at the same time as well and save some money on tires since i just purchased the tires about 4 months ago

cool, so first step will be BC coilovers ordering on monday, the picking up a set of 18x8,5 with a +44 offset!! in may smetime hopefully

stock is 215 tire on a 7" wide wheel.

225 on 8.5 will be stretches but yes it will work.

225 on a 8.5 won't be a stretch.. not these tires anyway...

people do it for the looks and clearance

be careful with the coils and how low you go, you will rub! i have 225/45/18 on 18x8.5 e45 and im lowered on h&r springs. normal driving im fine but if someone sits in the back my tires started to peal.

but coils have a LOT stiffer rate and won't give as much, thats why i'm going with them.. the wheels i'm looking at are 8.5 +44 and plan on rolling the fenders

if you roll the fenders you will be fine. my tires rub the front fender lining when im doing a full turn, its nothing major at all.
