2187 code

:
06 LS MS6
07 BM GT (shell has been struck from the roll)
So I install my CAI, and disconnect the bat

has a whiffy stall out on the first couple starts, I just let it idle awhile then drive around the block

next restart I let it idle and it throws this code which is lean idle. no sweat, clear it at azone, so far, 3 mile later stays out

QUESTION

best way to get the ecu to relearn they new deal ???

romp it, baby it, just drive normal ??

You shouldn't get a MIL after installing an intake with an ECU reset.
Check everything carefully and try to baby it at first (to be on the safe side).

check the air diverter in the intake. it can screw with the MAF signals and cause severe bucking on hard acceleration. if you have no diverter...you need one.

p.s.

to relearn the adaptive values disconnect the battery and touch pos. and neg cables together for 3-5 seconds...let sit diconnected for a couple mins and reconnect. start off driving normally (like normal people not the way you normally drive it) and after a couple of key cycles it will relearn for the new airflow improvment.

Its the same code I got before P2187- System idle too lean - Bank 1. It means you have a vacuum leak between the MAF housing and the Turbo. If you did NOT install a Turbo inlet pipe, then more than likely your problem is with the PCV hose.

The PCV hose could also be cracked if you were rough on it. Its the hose closest to the MAF housing, it is hard, and swivels around. Its the hose that uses the blue piece to connect on the intake.

Are you serious? I do not know if I misunderstood your statement, but please never touch negative and positive cables together. ever.

I think what you are trying to tell him is to restart the ecu. all you need to do is DISCONNECT the negative terminal (only if you have done a big 3 upgrade for audio) from the battery (or in most of your cases, the negative cable).
