212 MPH Landspeed record in Saturn Ion Redline!?

The landspeed classes are setup by engine size among other things...the records for 2.0 engines and under maybe easier to break/achieve than for engines over 2.0...the bigger engine you use...the faster you will have to go...even a slight increase to 2.2L or 2.3L opens up a new set of speed records over 200 mph...

I agree about it not being possible, I own a 2004 redline, and maxes out at a little over 140, specs say it is governed at somewhere between 144 and 146 MPH, don't know for sure, speedo only goes to 140 and stops at what looks like about 143 MPH. So while you may not have seen it, now you know. :)

Have fun everyone! :)
the top speed is "easily" fixable with the gear ratios ... i say easily because its not a big deal, but it would be expensive

also, i think that saturn had something like a titanium block or something (so i heard) so other than the looks of the body and the saturn badge, it's nothing like the production one. what sucks for them is that it's not even their engine ... the ecotec was designed by Opel (i think GM owns part of Opel, but it's not the same as if it were a true GM 2.0L engine)

so i don't know ... nice record though
