Anybody ever think about swapping their engine for a 20B 3 rotor?

Into an RX-7? It's been dune numerous times. FC and FD's.

It's not really worth the trouble however... It's mostly about the "oooh, aawww" factor.

Actually i'm thinking about doing that to my Protege. I know it can be done to other rear wheel drive cars but that would be too easy in compairison

Well, technically, anything can be done if you have enough money.

But you could probably buy 3 RX-7's, put 20B's into all of them, and drop enough parts into make one a drag car, one a road race car, and one a show car for the same amount of money as putting a 20B in your Protege.

not really... you can make crazy, relatively reliable power with 20bs... theres a few guys running upper 600s on pump gas at about 15psi... 20b rx7s are some of the fastest cars on the road, and are more go than show. They can be pushed upwards of 1000hp also. (RedRx7's old car on rx7club.com). Then agian it costs about 30-35k to put the engine in, let alone custom/performance work.

Professional racers don't even use 20B's yet. They're keeping up with the 13B just fine for the most part. 20B's will come in time however I am sure. The NHRA drag cars aren't even pushing that kind of power. 1,000hp isn't going to do anything for you anyway unless you've got everything else to go with it (suspension, body, drivetrain, etc) IE not a street car.

Exactly... It costs so much for that swap. Your average person would not be able to do it them self. If you've got to pay someone 20+ k for labor that's not cost effective at all. As I said, a 20B is for the oooh awww factor or the person has nothing else to spend their money on. The 13B can produce more power than most any street car will ever need.
