2025 CX-5 Seat Comfort Concerns

After looking at quite a few 2025 Trim groups, I've narrowed down my choice to the Premium Plus in White. However.....The jury is still out on the seat comfort. Coming from a Lexus LS430 and a Jaguar XK Coupe, the seats are quite cozy, however it's a change with the CX5. I drove the car 3 times and still have not made up my mind as their is not really anything to support the thighs. I love the car in every other respect but will need another driveor two to decide for sure. Too bad they don't let you take the car home overnight! To be continued.

Seat comfort is entirely an opinion. Everyone is different. Personally my butt is too big to get realy comfortable as the bolsters intrude on me. However I've been on long trips and have done ok. Everything else about the car overrides the seat comfort for me.

I am pretty normal size as is my wife and we can do 800 mile days no problem in our 23 cx5 turbo. Seats for us are great I have heard others don't like them so much so probably depends on your shape.

I might be privileged to get to drive the CX5 for a day as well as overnight which should give me a much better idea of seat comfort. I happen to be fortunate to have an exceptional salesman who is respected and gets things done! This is rare!!!!

My wife has a ‘23 premium plus and I find the seats pretty pathetic. No thigh support or side bolstering, so you roll around a lot when cornering. I much prefer the seats in my ‘18 Mazda 3 hatch which have a proper bucket-like contour to sink into which holds you in place in turns. IMO, Mazda needs to rethink their seat design.

also get the turbo...there is no way I would be satisfied with a non turbo cx5. Also be warned the white paint is pretty thin and chips easy. If I had to do it over I would probably choose a different color altho I know the red gets the same complaints. Another thing that bothers me a bit is the plastic wrap around on the front and rear bumpers do not match the body paint exactly. in some light they look fine but others they are a different shade. as far as mechanical quality we have put about 35000 miles on our 23 in less than 2 years and it has been great as has been mpg. it gets better than advertised when hand figured.

I have found the seats on the CX-5 to have a thin foam pad with a metal 'pan' underneath. This is good for space utilization maybe but I prefer to add a memory foam 'topper'.

I really like my CX5 2022 except seats are just mediocre at best compared to Volvo, Acura, etc. I spent $110 to have additional padding installed in the drivers seat. Mazda really should listen to us. Ed

I think they did as i think they updated the 2023’s i know mine have more support than my brother in-law’s turbo 2021 model

Anyone know if the sweats are swappable?

I have a 24 Turbo Premium (and a lousy back with spinal stenosis and herniating disks). I find the seats quite comfortable and supportive, with no leg or back pain (as long as I have the seat's lumbar support at maximum). My previous Buick Verano caused an ache every day, even with a lumbar support pillow added.

I had a herniated disc which was replaced 14 years ago. Hope you find relief, it isn't fun.

The seats were updated in 22 according to Mazda. They look identical so I suspect they did something with the internal padding.

They feel firmer rather than softer, to me.

But I came from the ones with the white cloth centers and no ventilation. Apples to oranges.

The leather seats in the Miata are noticeably softer than the CX-5. The CX-5 seats don't cause me discomfort, but I would really like better bolstering so I don't slide around.

I have 2021.5 Turbo. I am 176cm height, 85kg weight. Seat feels a bit hard to me. I'd prefer it to be softer and deeper, more bolstering. In past I had Ford Explorer Ltd 1998, its seats were ideal for me.
What I find uncomfortable in CX-5 - no armrests! My arms hanging their weight on my palms and fingers. I feel my fingers tired after 2+ hours of driving. (and I am windsurfer, my palms and fingers are strong.)
Is there an option to attach some armrests?

The problem, my friend, is you're just too damned short!;) I've owned a 2013 and now a 2023 CX-5 and Mazda hasn't improved the front center armrest design in all that time. It's just too far back and it's not adjustable. I'm 5'10" (177.8cm) and it's just barely usable with my elbow perched on the leading edge. The car is my wife's DD and it's totally unusable for her 5'3' frame. One of my pet peeves with Mazda is that they rarely improve on an existing design. Another example of that is the "interference" rear seat head rests which require removal in order to put the rear seat backs down while the front seats are all the way back. Most other manufacturers found a way around this issue years ago, but Mazda has had the same dumb design on all its cars since 2012!

And yet they took the time and effort to redesign the floor of the cargo area in 22. That one made no sense to me at all.

They clone some manufacturers, thats why. Follow the trend. The biggest issue is still the driver position and seating. It's like they dont want to see what NA and EU market needs.

Old infotainment tech, bad seating and front visibility. Still rusting, etc. They do have good marketing though.

The seats have not changed at all since 2018 (except some small tweaks). The 2022- are even cheaper but harder foam than before. Pretty much it's constructed around smaller folks.

As the OP, I can say that the main problem for me, being 5'7" is the bottom seat is too short giving me NO THIGH SUPPORT So many lesser cars have comfortable seats (such as the Subaru line other than the Crosstrack which is also too short. I love the CX-5 and am ready to go for the Premium Plus except for the damn seat. I wish I knew of a way to alter the seat or add something to give me the thigh support. I know they sell extenders, but not sure how that would look or work. Any suggestions?

you are probably out of luck...I am 5'9" and my wife is 5"3" and we both find the seats really comfortable. we have no problem doing 800mile days when traveling. I would say if the seats are not comfortable for you at 5'7" there is not really anything you will be able to do to make them comfortable so probably best to look at another vehicle. I know we would have bought a CX50 turbo but we did not like the seats.
