2025 CX-5 Seat Comfort Concerns

As the OP, I can say that the main problem for me, being 5'7" is the bottom seat is too short giving me NO THIGH SUPPORT So many lesser cars have comfortable seats (such as the Subaru line other than the Crosstrack which is also too short. I love the CX-5 and am ready to go for the Premium Plus except for the damn seat. I wish I knew of a way to alter the seat or add something to give me the thigh support. I know they sell extenders, but not sure how that would look or work. Any suggestions?
moving the seat bottom back provides some rest for thighs but the steering wheel cannot be extended much. So for some physics it just wont work with the cx5 not much you can do. The seat cushion is short and narrow so for long legged folks its a problem.

I would prob look for different car... because otherwise it would be expensive mistake. The CX5 (as new) has very bad depreciation the first 3-4 years if you decide to sell in an year or two.

Actually, I keep the steering wheel far away, as I like to drive with my arms extended straight. It's an absolute shame I can find cars that I dislike with great seats and I love the CX-5 but can't find a comfortable position with the seat.....Something to get used to? Hmmmm... Could be an expensive mistake. The Jury is still out.

Anyone know if the sweats are swappable?
If we could figure out whether there are standard seat rail dimensions, that would help. If not, one could have an adapter plate made to use any seat. Food for thought.

Warranty issues whenever any modifications are made, unless the car is past it's warranty period.

Warranty for what? Seat issues? :ROFLMAO:

People forget that warranty terms don't put a "hands-off" sign on every nut and bolt on the car.

maybe look at something like Recaro seats...but still if you need to go to that extreme I would just get another brand...Not like a CX5 is all that exciting...especially if looking at a non turbo version.

I really like my CX5 2022 except seats are just mediocre at best compared to Volvo, Acura, etc. I spent $110 to have additional padding installed in the drivers seat. Mazda really should listen to us. Ed
Who did the extra padding for you? An upholstery shop? Sounds very reasonable. How did it turn out and look after?

exactly. Not worth it. Plus the airbags, passenger seat sensors, etc. The computer would light like a holiday tree :) Also on the models with ventilated seats its more tricky.

Upholstery shops. But it depends where you live. In my area the big ones didnt want to touch it.
A smaller one with not much work may be more inclined to do small change/work like it.

I gotta say the ventilated seats are one of my favorite features...

An Upholster shop did the added padding. Looking at the seat you can barely tell the difference unless you are looking for it.
Did the upholsterer add the padding to the front of the seat to lengthen the bottom cushion? Where did he make the changes? Thanks

what you look for is not doable in easy way. The seat frame is short , as well as the seat cover.
Assuming extended foam can be added still have the other two problems.

I think I've found my pre-retirement side hustle ... Make custom comfortable plug-n-play cx5 seat bottoms 😁

I don't think they're any worse than a wooden bench:) I guess some people are dissatisfied with the side bolsters. I guess thigh support is another problem. What bothers me the most is the firm cushions, at least on any trip more than maybe an hour or so. So I use a foam cushion on top. I guess getting a shop to do this might be worth it, but to get a really thick pad they might need to use different seat covers.

upholstery shop can help you with firmness.
There is also enougn space below the cushion.Mazda uses balistic nylon on the foam and it sits directly on the zig zag springs.

I have dissected the seat few times and finally I put a jute under mine and could also put high density foam with softer firmness level in future. It lifts the cushion where you sit slightly.

Also if you have ventilated seats they are a bit firmer than just the heated ones.

The seats cushion and bolsters can be tweaked. they just cannot be extended due to the frame construction. Its just too small design :(

I'm 6'2" and I find the seats pretty comfortable. Like you, I was skeptical about the short seat bottoms and the bolsters, but I took a chance and haven't had an issue. I don't have the seat all the way back because I don't like my arms completely extended. Even with that, I can use the center arm rest without issue. The seats are firm, but not uncomfortable for me. The longest drive I've done so far is about 1.5 hrs, so I can't speak to a real road trip.

I find it very interesting that at 5'7" you have a problem with the seat bottom. You are about the average they tend to design around. As I said, I don't find it to be an issue and I'd bet my legs are longer than yours!

I have a 25 Turbo Premium, second highest trim, and love it!
