2019 CX-5 Diesel

Who cares? Any bets on how long before they get caught cheating emissions if they do start selling them?
 
Mazda's partnership with Toyota = Electrification coming soon.
 
Lots of complaint around the worlds on their diesel engine.
Not sure if the problem was really fixed.
Search on google to read for yourself.
I would go with their turbo engine, which has power curve likes diesel's.

The turbo gas gets crap fuel economy and I only need more grunt at low speeds. I'm not sure I'd prefer the turbo even if the cost were the same.

Here's a sample:
Moro [Masahiro Moro, the President of Mazda North America] only got so far as to say an update on Mazdas diesel engines would be coming shortly, before he was carefully cut off by a media relations representative sitting across from me.

We did talk, however, about the damage done to the image of diesel by companies like Volkswagen and Fiat Chrysler in the Dieselgate scandal. But Moro still believes theres a place for diesel in the U.S. market, and in Europe, despite increasing pressure from governments overseas to go electric.

Mazda does currently offer a 2.2-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder in the CX-5 crossover. But Moro specifically talked about the performance benefits of diesel when it came to torque, towing, and range. Its unclear if plans include the existing SkyActiv-D 1.8-liter engine that Europe is getting, or if theres something else coming. Well see whats up soon, I guess.

Why don't we talk about the damage done to Mazda's image by their diesel...
 
Ok..what do you think? Big impact(the no show)in the minds of us consumer? No, most have no idea. Still good take rate in other markets (despite some issues)? Yes.
Obviously not great overall and if anyone's salty about it its me..but we'd probably be talking about how we miss that little zoom zoom brand from Japan by now had they gone the way of vw, no doubt..so, in a word..levels

Yeah, people who own them have been made aware via Mazda/Mail or worse, issues personally experienced.

There really just is nothing good associated Mazda's foray with their diesel. Hell, it's already likely to have cost you personally, and you don't even own one, Monty! That's horrible!

Ouch! Maybe it is a blessing it didn't hit the US, and maybe these flaws are the real reason.

It's amazing that such complicated machines have so few debilitating class defects.

People here generally don't know or care, still buying them in numbers elsewhere despite issues and I've wiping my ass with 50s so really its just another turd to me, you've been warned!! Seriously though well worth if it means they waited to really get it right. Bringing it and it sucking exponentially worse for brand image than failure to launch and an old url.
