2018 cx5

Dealers order 3 months in advance?

My dealer once mentioned they get order sheets that include things coming. In the spring, my dealer mentioned the CX-5 Diesel showing up his order sheets, something the Mazda 6 Diesel never did, which is why I put my money down. But of course, nothing has shown up.

They need to get back on track to release things on a normal schedule. New models should come out in Dec-Jan.

Possible "changes" based on the NTHSA filing for 2018 could be the final introduction of the diesel model, a 2.0L engine SV trim to slot below the current Sport trim and a Signature Edition trim.

Maybe the manual 2.0L coming back for 2018!? (2017's manual's are already available in Canada). The HP rating also went up to 156hp (from 155).. that should help ease any concerns about lack of power. (drive2)

There is also a 2.5L with cylinder deactivation listed on there.. will probably help increase the EPA rating without really helping at all in the real world.

Than there is the Diesel listed at 175HP.. that's higher than the Australian and European models (172HP) I was hoping Mazda could bump that up higher with the use of urea injection for the US market. I hope that at least the fuel economy will be impressive.

If it was the diesel engine from the new CX-8 then it would be 187HP.

Plausible. A few weeks to ramp up production, manufacture parts, assembly etc then 6-8 weeks for delivery by ship, clear customs and transport it to the dealer lot.

I take anything a dealership says with a grain of salt. Sales people typically don't have access to information that isn't made public by Mazda. Their information is typically based on rumors going around their dealership. How many of you had a dealer tell you Android Auto/CarPlay was coming?

I used to work for a dealership, and this is by and large correct. Ford did release more technical details to sales staff than the general public got without doing some really serious digging, such as torsional rigidity/chassis specs, etc.

Now were talkin'!!!

Your market needs better regulation. Fancy calling an early 2013 model a 2014 (gah)

2014 was the first MY CX-5 here in the states with the 2.5L.

Guessing instead of just putting it into 2013's they just decided to make it a new MY? (scratch)

We have MY here but in most instances the next year nomenclature kicks in around Oct-Dec

I recently spoke to a dealer who briefly mentioned his order for the 2018 CX5s, which will essentially be unchanged, except for some equipment. He said some equipment, such as memory seats available on the GT package, will be now standard on the 2018s. Do any of you know the full lists of new equipment that will now be standard on the 2018 CX5 GT?

2018 Mazda CX-5 will also get cylinder deactivation on its sole 2.5-liter four-cylinder. For those curious, the system shuts off the cylinders on the ends of the engine to save fuel. Mazda also says that the engine has been updated in a number of other small areas to reduce friction and further improve efficiency. The company hasn't provided fuel economy numbers for the new engine, though.

The updates for the CX-5 go beyond the powertrain, as all trim levels get more standard features. The base-level CX-5 Sport now comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic warning.

The mid-level CX-5 Touring now has the i-Activsense safety feature suite standard, which includes automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist. This suite of features is also available as an option for the first time on the Sport model.

The top-level CX-5 Grand Touring gets seat memory for two settings, as well as a power-adjustable passenger seat.

These updates bring very minor increases in price. The Sport trim adds another $140 over the 2017 version. The Touring jumps the most, up $335. The Grand Touring model increases $285.

I'm already seeing inbound units on area dealer sites..tried to get them to share EPA numbers but no luck so far..
