2017 memory mirrors?

Got the CX9 GT AWD and just discovered that there is no memory side mirror. Well ther eis no perfect car I guess, even the high end european cars still has upgrades and flaws. I'm just happy I have most of of the luxury features of european cars in a reasonably priced suv.

Remember Mazda used to offer memory mirrors in certain MY 1st-gen CX-9 GT and since had decided to remove the memory mirror feature in 2nd-gen CX-9 GT. You're lucky at least Mazda put true 8-way power driver's seat back for 2017 CX-9 which was missing in 2016 CX-9 although the sales brochure clearly stated so.

This's the way Mazda cut corners; penny wise, pound foolish.

Not that hard to adjust mirrors.
Yep it's not that hard to keep some features which had been there.

There's something called expectation. For a $40,4707 vehicle you're kind of expecting memory mirror feature is included with memory seat. Especially the same feature was there before!

How do you explain Mazda secretly downgraded power driver's seat to "6-way" in 2016 CX-9 GT and Signature but the sales brochure stated "8-way"?

AFAIK other vehicles in its class don't have memory mirrors (uhm)

I'll have to check the Aussie brochures for the CX-9 to see if we are the same

Don't need to compare other brands, just compare itself - the 1st-gen CX-9!

Other vehicles keep adding more features, but Mazda keeps removing features - secretly!

Another example is the temporary spare tire. CX-9 AWD used to have same-diameter T155/90D18 113M as the temporary spare but now in 2nd-gen CX-9 AWD it gets smaller-diameter T155/90D17 101M for larger 255/60R18 107H or 255/50R20 104V road tires. The same on our CX-5. We're supposed to get T155/90D18 113M spare for our CX-5 AWD based on specifications listed on the Mazda USA website and the parts catalog, but in the end we got wrong-sized smaller-diameter T145/90D16 106M instead!

2017 Spare Tire Mod for U.S.

Wrong sized / smaller-diameter spare tire could ruin the AWD system as stated clearly in our owner's manual!

Wasn't going to compare other brands. I have 2016 & 2017 CX-9 brochures. Going to check both

Brochures? We all know what happened on "Life Traffic" claim in 2016 CX-5 brochure. The same on 2016 CX-9. The brochure says 8-way Power Driver's Sest, but in reality it's a secretly downgraded 6-way Power Seat! ;)

Nothing re live update here. We never had it in the first place if I am not mistaken.

OK - so I've compared both our brochures:

No downgrades here between the years

So I guess we've been lucky here. AFAIK no shenanigans here with the CX-5 either

10-way Power Driver's Seat now in your 2017 CX-9 GT and Azami? We still get 8-way in 2017 CX-9 GT and Signature like your CX-9 Touring!

The downgrades I was talking about were from the 1st-gen CX-9 (up to 2015 MY) to 2nd-gen CX-9 (after 2016 MY). 1st-gen CX-9 GT always has 8-way Power Driver's Seat、Memory Outside Mirrors、and Auto Tilt-down Passenger-side Mirror when in Reverse. Once 2016 2nd-gen CX-9 came out, Mazda took away these features. The downgrades were the same in Australia. Power driver's seat became 6-way adjustments as indicated in your 2016 brochure, but 2016 US brochure is putting out false information and still says 8-way power seat. I guess Mazda Australia is more honest than our Mazda North American Operations!

Here is a post from a CX-9 owner which sums it up our discussion:

Yes, but the base Q has all the features of the Signature CX-9. Even the 4 cyl. Q7 performs better than the CX-9. But my point was the Q7 weighs 500 lbs more than the CX-9 but gets just about the same mileage without having to resort to Sky active stuff. Don't get me wrong, we own both cars and I can't help but compare and we've also owned 3 previous generation CX-9 and have been disappointed in them leaving basic stuff out that were standard on the previous model and expecting it on the new model.

Yes, there's something called "expectation". Removing features used to be there, especially secretly, is something Mazda shouldn't do. And this's not going to help Mazda's already very low customer retention rate where Mazda's CEO Masamichi Kogai wants to raise!

Car manufacturers always remove features from one model to the next. It's not a new thing. Also the Q7 cost more here than the CX9. It's in a different class
