So you still have the old-fashioned gated shifter? I didn't know gated shifter doesn't have shift-release button. Some of us don't have buttons on our shifter
I think that other method will work though. Will give it a try.

I don't like most of them either, but I like the one in my CX-5. Very intuitive without messing around with a button or looking at it. And feels good in hand, especially in Manual mode. (drive)Never really liked gated shifters and am glad Mazda moved away from it.

Confirmed, simplest way. Stop, move shifter to park. Keep button on shifter depressed, press Start button. ACC mode.

I tried this yesterday and it worked like a charm. One bit of strangeness though. The car does indeed go into ACC mode with this method but only the driver's window can be operated. None of the other windows work, either from the driver's controls or from the controls on the doors. I didn't think to try the sunroof though...
The wipers and radio work at least.
That is strange. AFAIK all windows should be operating (uhm)
I don't ever want to go back to a key. What's so convenient about that? Being able to let your car run when you exit it? I don't ever need to do that. Nor would I want to. Someone can just break your window and steal your car. I don't live in the suburbs. LOL

That's what I was thinking. It doesn't make any sense. The other windows must be on another circuit for some reason.
Am I the only on that's never really understood the 'advantage' of the push start button?
A fricking key in the ignition has worked fine for decades and seems to give you more options/freedom....
Hence the key between the front seats.

Like the good old Saab ⋯Hence the key between the front seats.
