Does the 2016 Mazda CX-5 with tech supposed to have AFS?
I don't see the AFS button in my car.

AFS is standard in GT trim (no need for tech, at least in Canada) but there is no button for it anymore (the option is now controller via the personalization function in the head unit).

only buttons with Tech

- blind spot monitoring
- traction control
- Tire pressure
- lane departure

US version 2016 Mazda CX-5 GT itself doesn't have pivoting Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS). You have to get Tech Package in order to have it. As CX-5 GT w/Tech will all have 7" video screen and GPS, the AFS set-up has been moved into Personalization Setting in the Home screen.

Interesting that the French version has the old manual leveling control on the headlights. I thought that went away 10+ years ago on most makes.

Thanks for the info. I guess Mazda needs to update their manuals. The 2016 Smart Start Guide manual on the MazdaUsa site still show's the physical buttons.

Actually I believe this manual headlight leveling control is still very popular there in Europe and is required for Xenon headlights without auto leveling. I've seen this manual leveling control very often is equipped with halogen headlights. Of course the French are big on adaptive headlight system, Citroen、Renault have been making their headlights turning left and right since 1970's. Strange thing is why the French version CX-5 is having BOTH AFS (which has auto leveling) and manual leveling control? I guess the manual leveling is only available when you turn the AFS off?

My guess is that the manual control changes the base setting. We can do that with a 10mm from under the hood.

Funny how the US 2016 CX-5 brochure and smart guide picture the physical "AFS OFF" button on the left dashboard. My CX-5 doesn't have a physical button, but as you mentioned, the setting is in the infotainment system.

EDIT: I missed that 'apa80' already commented about this

I thought the same thing at first too until I went back and looked at other 2016s. Looks like it was an oversight in Mazdas manual.
