2016 CX9 Owners Thread

Only other complaint is the quick lane change blinker option for 3 seconds is way to short to change lanes. Should be more like 5 to 7 seconds to execute lane change safely.

Rear hatch. Not easily pushed down like my old model. Also the unlock button on the door, doesn't unlock the driver side/passenger side doors..
lane change blinker: it clicks 3 times which is pretty standard (my old audi A4 used to have the exact same blinker). you can always hold it halfway down until you feel comfortable letting up on it too.

Rear hatch: no need to push it down manually. you can just press the button on the bottom of the hatch and it will auto close.

I programmed mine to unlock all doors once the unlock remote button or the door handle button is pressed.

Thanks for the tips.

I DID program for single press to unlock all doors. I guess I expected it to do the same when I press the trunk. I'll try again.

I downloaded this Global Voice Command sheet from Mazda, but it doesn't seem to be 100% accurate. The commands like "Navigate to", "Enter Address" or "Drive to" simply do not work. I have more luck just saying "Address" and then let it prompt me. Anyone else have better luck?

Anyone get the Mazda Mobile Start installed? They install two different antennas on the passenger side window which are very unattractive looking sealed over with adhesive plastic. Looks like the service is OEM'd from Fujitsu Ten - Remote Telematics service. I'm hoping they do something better with the App interface.

The way Mazda sets up the unlock is that when you press the unlock on the hatch, nothing else unlocks. I don't believe there is a way to change that. I would personally prefer it to unlock everything when you unlock the hatch as usually I have at least one person waiting to get in the vehicle while I load up the back. It's a small annoyance but one that bugs me every time I switch from my Odyssey to the CX-3.

We had the Mazda Mobile Start installed too. We are very unhappy with it, and the antennae don't even bother us! The system is very slow to log into and then very slow to start. It's fine if you start the car 5 minutes early but is a bad choice to start while walking out to your car. We have a mobile app for our garage door and it is very quick to use. No reason the Mazda system should be so slow!

Plus: we hate how the engine shuts off when the door is opened. Why??!! We are seriously considering having the system removed and using an aftermarket system.

OK, so I'm not crazy. Yah. usually when you're unlocking the trunk, you're loading up and getting ready to get in to drive away.(rofl2)

To prevent someone from just walking up to your car while it's running and just getting in and driving off with it.

With other remote starts the door must be unlocked and then the start button be pushed (with key inside of vehicle) before it can be driven off.

Yes. I noticed that also. Useless walking out to the car. Need to make a conscious effort at least 5 minutes ahead of time. However, I did time the login time at about 23 seconds and then the remote start about another 26 seconds. Not as bad as I was expecting. Perhaps I'm in a better GSM/Cell service area.

I've only tried the remote start once. But I did notice the car shutoff as soon as I opened the door. I was expecting it to operate the same as a standard remote starter...enter the car, press start (don't touch the brake pedal) and go.... My wife's CX-7 has the standard FOB Remote starter. And we always make the mistake of stepping on the brake before starting causing the engine to shutoff....so we're used to it.

BTW, here's the modules they OEM for the remote starter and radar cruise-control (millimeter Wave Radar)

Perhaps we can slam them with requests to "Fix" the app and add features like TouchID and more user friendly...

That is correct. on the 2016 CX-9 (and CX-5 for that matter), unlocking the hatch does not unlock all the side doors.

I noticed the app is over a year old and is the original version (1.00). It badly needs an update!

Just fully tested the unlock and latch door button on the 2016 CX-9. No matter what you do, it does NOT unlock the driver/passenger doors. You must use either the remote FOB or the door handle buttons to unlock. <DISLIKE>(rant)(rant)

Same on the CX5 as well

This is as expected, no?

My answer would be "no." On my '12, if you press the lock/unlock button on the outside of the hatch, it works the same way that the passenger handle works--it unlocks all doors.

I wonder if there's a hidden way to reprogram this? My '12 can be programmed as to if/when the doors lock and unlock when you start driving, put car in park, etc. Maybe there's an Easter Egg for the latch locking?

personally i like this feature (keeping the unlock separate between trunk and side doors) because sometimes i want to lock the side doors with the handle, but then grab something out of the trunk as i am leaving without having to lock all the doors again. but i agree that they should make it programmable to fit each person's needs.

Not sure if you guys noticed this, I realized this morning. If you turn off the tachometer on your Heads Up Display, you get a lot more information when the Navigation is turned on. Which is really useful (Street names, graphical distance to turn, detailed lane intersection, etc.). Thus begs the question as to why it's not a standard feature that switches automatically... For example, the tachometer would hide to give the nav priority. When the nav isn't in use, the tach can be displayed again. OR, have settings that would hide the tach unless the car is in either Manual and/or Sports mode. The way they have it set up right now, doesn't really make much sense.
