Ooooooooo, nice! Go back and take some more pics!!!! lol If I have time tonight I'm going to stop at the local dealer to check out the few hatches they have in inventory, maybe I'll get lucky and they'll have a sedan or two to tempt me.

Is this relevant to anyone? What wacko would choose a sedan when it comes in a hatch?

those that don't need the space of a hatch? the sedan should weigh less, too. (less glass around the back end adding weight)

i say lower it and add some 19's and that thing would be pretty cool looking

You have to see the sedan in person, it's really nice. I was driving last night and saw the new 3 sedan, white, in front of me. Really nice looking car. I'm going to choose the hatchback though, it looks more sporty and I'm too used to the larger hatch opening. The sedan trunk opening seems so small even though it has more trunk space than the hatch. I think if the sedans has the exposed chrome tips like the hatch, then it would look a lot more sportier.

Relevant to me as I prefer the styling of the new sedan over the hatch and I'm a hatch/wagon lover! I'd take a gen 1/2 hatch over the sedan any day of the week (have a gen2 sedan because it's the wife's and she didn't want a hatch) but for the 2014, I'd buy the sedan.

So far I only see the specs for the HATCH

Hatchback is ~2800lbs for the 2.0L, and ~3000lbs for the 2.5L

I own the hatch version SGT (black on black) and will be dropping it about 1.5 inches (perfect drop) and adding 19s once a kit is available and tested for the 2014 model.

Stopped earlier and they did indeed have sedans on the lot, a soul red, titanium flash and black. Very nice indeed but thanks to the pouring rain I didn't get to look as long as I'd like. Will be going back up another day for sure.

The dealers over here have had the sedans for a while, now. There aren't that many and most are black or white. From what I've read, the sedans have the lowest coefficient of drag. Make mine blue with 184 HP.

While the new 3 is indeed very nice, the proportions look a bit odd to me. IMO mazda made the rear deck too short, it looks awkward in certain angles, I would opt for the hatch version, if i didn't get a 6 touring already. I have yet too see one in person though, so my opinions can change

Appearance wise, they both look good to me. I am seriously in the hunt and cannot decide. It is too bad the sedan does not have the exposed dual chrome exhausts. Some of the scribes have said road noise is more pronounced in the hatch. The hatch makes a more flexible vehicle for loading up the odd size. The 5 door costs $500 more..............What else is different?

The mileage is slightly less in the hatch.

I agree that I like the exposed exhaust on the hatch instead of the hidden exhaust on my sedan. I think they are both great looking! I just decided I liked the sedan better. :)

^ I would have gotten the sedan if they had the exposed exhaust tips like the hatch. I almost got the sedan lol However, having a hatch you get the 3rd brake light on the outside and not behind the glass so tinting the car wouldn't block the light output. I guess for the $500 price over the sedan, you get the rear wipers and exhaust tips plus some more sheet metal up top lol

Plus a cargo area large enough to carry a set of track wheels and tires really easily. Unlike a certain other zoomy-type compact that was recently announced to no longer be a hatch. ;)

Can't believe they showed a pic of the new WRX with the seats dropped and a set of track tires wedged in there. Yeah, why not rub salt into the no-hatch decision? :)
