I have a 2015 GT and I am averaging 35.4 mpg on the highway. Even though I drive like an old lady, it yields good mileage.
Is that around 55-60 MPH?

Even if I was single and did not do anything but city driving I'd still get a decent vehical. Prius, yikes.

While shopping for cars, high MPG was on my priority list. That being said, the Lexus CT200h was on my short list. While underneath it is basically a Prius, beyond that it is a pretty cool car.
I owned a Porsche before the CX-5 and I never cared about gas mileage. The car was for fun and the MPGs was never a consideration. Now with the Mazda, it's like I hang on every 10th of a mile increase or decrease in gas mileage. It's kinda of a game for me. I guess I got this from driving my wife's Prius. It's funny.. when I am in my G35x the car just wants to be driven fast no matter the MPG. I don't find this compelling need in the CX. It's still very fun to drive but I also find it fun to see great MPG.

The 19" tires are going to be harder to find, less choices of make and model of tires, and yes, they'll be more expensive. There's only one Goodyear tire available for the 19", but, there's 6 or 7 choices available for the 17".
there's actually a lot of choices for 19" just by changing the width from 225 to 235 I got 30 results and its a good fit :
