Hello every one,

My name is Hector and i have been an owner of a CX-5 since January, so far i love the vehicle, specially the MPGs. Well my problem happened today while i visited a Zaxbys. well i went inside the restaurant to order food to go while my wife was on the vehicle so i left the car running. When i returned to the vehicle i noticed a freaking cristmas tree of lights in my instrument cluster with the following lights lit. engine, tire pressure, AT, gas cap, TCS dynamic stability. and probably othe few. so i decided to restart the engine to see if it was a glitch. so i did and all the lights were gone exept the engine light. re stater a couple of times and the check engine light still one so im taking it to the dealeship to see whats up. but other than that she drives normal nothing feels weird.

I wish Mazda would issue a TSB for this issue. One thing I dislike about them - they know it is an issue, and they likely know exactly which builds/VINs are affected, but they'll wait it out until it becomes a more serious issue before they do anything about it.

Maybe it's a rare thing to happen and only a very small percentage of vehicles may experience it and only under the right conditions. You know how forums work. A few people who've experienced the issue post and its seems like an epidemic blown way out of proportion? I'm on my second CX5 and both have had 0 transmission issues. The CX5 is also the highest rated small SUV in reliability in Consumer Reports.

There are also those people who read a few of these negative posts on such forums whom may not even own a Mazda but want to capitalize on the situation for some personal gain. I'm not necessarily saying this thread is one of those but I will say I tend to believe more from the members who have a history here than those who only have 1 post.

While I can understand why you would doubt someone with just one post, I came to this forum looking for answers after the same thing happened to my vehicle.. I'd rather search for some answers on my own rather than the dealer feed me nonsense when I take the vehicle in for service.. I've had my share of negative experiences with dealers whenever taking a vehicle I own for service, and countless people on these forums can attest to the fact that we put much faith in dealers giving us the right answers and taking care of our concerns the first time around.. When they fail at those points, then we have reason to arm ourselves with information when we confront them on those issues..

So far, my lights haven't come back on and I am due for my first oil change since purchasing the vehicle at the end of May.. Currently, the only issue that I am experiencing which I hope to have fixed is the drivers side mirror vibrating on the highway.. Thanks to these forums, I know there is a TSB regarding that to be addressed..

When my dash did this, the dealer said it was a loose connection on the room fuse. Hasn't happened since they fixed.

Similar issue with my 2013 CX-5 Touring AT.

Driving on a busy street, felt a "clunk" through the gas peddle. RPM dove down to about 1500-1800 and wouldn't go any higher. Managed to pull over across 3 lanes to the shoulder.

Shut off and restarted and got the Christmas tree dash, still same RPM issue in Park - push gas peddle half way, RPM's go up to 2000 then slack off to 1500 regardless of peddle position.

Shut off and restart again. Now the RPM is fine, revs up to 6000+, but no forward gears (in auto or in auto-manual). Reverse works fine. Check engine light on.

Once again shut off and restart. Check engine light is on, but the RPM's and gears are back. Gingerly drove the 10 miles to the nearest dealer.

This was on a Sunday. No techs, sales guy said bring it back when the techs are in... Yeah... not really feeling like driving the highway and either losing gears or nose-diving the RPM's again. They gave us a loaner.

Waiting to hear back...
